I'll believe it when I see it. Last year the draft watchers were slow to warm to McGrath and Taranto, preferring McCluggage. Their final phantoms hide some of the stuff they'd been saying all year. This year's draft is very even and teams could have wildly different ratings. Rayner could drop because of his tank. I don't think it's inconceivable either that teams would rate Hunter Clark ahead of LDU, or even Lochie O'Brien ahead of Dow. Reports were that it was O'Brien that was attracting the tags in the Geelong Grammar games.DJ Higgins wrote:I agree with others that the top 3 are pretty much set Rayner, LDU and Dow.
Brayshaw is getting talked up as a potential number one. Cerra would be defensible over any of the three you listed. He looked better with the ball at the champs than LDU or Dow - perhaps because he was playing for the better team. Freo may have been tossing up between Naughton and Brander at 5 and decided to bully Gold Coast so they could get both. They had to have pictures or something right? Who looks at this draft and says 'Nope. Lachie Weller.'? North need mids, but they probably need forwards and a new coach too while they're at it. They'd probably fall all over themselves to draft Dow if he lasts that long, shinboner spirit and all. Who even knows what Collingwood are doing? I've heard they want a tall, but they have form on taking my favourite players in a draft pool. They'll find a way to ruin everything, like they always do.
Which is all a long-winded way of saying anything could happen.
