Re: Best centreman / ruck rover type in past 50 years
Are we separating Centrman & Ruck Rovers?
Ian Stewart's record speaks for itself, but I didn't see him play and therefore I'm happy to nominate Lenny Hayes as the best centreman I've seen at the Club, one of my favorites to don the St Kilda guernsey. Robert Harvey is a cake walk for ruck rover.

Ian Stewart in the centre, Banger ruck- roving, Lenny on the bench.
Glenn Elliott and Greg Burns both excellent centremen, but Stewart was one of the top 5 Saints players I have ever seen, as was Rob Harvey.

Third those.
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

So a 'centre square' line up of
Carl Ditterich
Robert Harvey
Ian Stewart
Ross Smith
I reckon other clubs would struggle to match/beat that foursome.
