Trent McKenzie
Trent McKenzie
Surely worth a look for our team with Joey retiring
Great kick can play tall and can run like he wind out of contract and out of favour at the GC
Should be a target for 2018
Would get him in the preseason draft for our first pick...

Would rather Joey playing until he was fifty than Trent McKenzie

Re: Trent McKenzie
We need to turn our attention away from GOP's and start focusing on silk.
Let's hope this McKenzie's next adventure is not at Moorabbin or Seaford.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Trent McKenzie
Joey will retire
I said pre season draft not national draft...
Trent McKenzie is a very good half back and can kick the footy, an area we are very poor in especially in the back line. Joey can kick but not penetrating and makes a lot of mistakes.
Savage isnt the answer
Gilbert ad Geary struggle by foot.
Jimmy is our only good kick back there.
He is worth a look

No he will either play on OR the club will not offer him a one year contract.
He wants to play on. So if there is a press conference about Joey retiring it will be a sham.
I suspect that the club will not offer him a new one year contract.

They are younger yes, they are part of our future yes and Jeoy is not.ausfatcat wrote:Newnes, white, Rice in the wings we got plenty of his type with more upside and better players now
But will they be better players? They may or not be, but here are now they cannot be said to better players than Joey.

Re: Trent McKenzie
But the question is the quality
Just having a list of names who are "back flankers" is not the answer to a glaring problem with our defence which just gets too easily opened up just too often and has limited rebound credentials
So we need players who can defend an opponent, close down specie with leg speed AND can use the ball with damaging effect going the other way
Given our performance the search goes on

Re: Trent McKenzie
I'll take the cannon if he is cheap.
He is absolutely elite by foot when on song and if you can use him properly he could be damaging.
If you back your team to turn him around he could be a bargain.

Agreed. Who would have thought that Dylan Roberton would end up in the AA squad when we gained him a few years back as a delisted free agent. Ended up being a steal.Joffa Burns wrote:I'll take the cannon if he is cheap.

A change of scenery can do wonders for a player. Maybe getting McKenzie away from the GC will be a good pick. You never know.
