McKilllop now a Saint

Post: # 1016895Post saintspremiers »

http://www.theage.com.au/world/blue-ski ... 16owf.html

But what position will she play?

Considering she can pull off all sorts of miracles, does it matter?

I can only assume her inclusion will mean we will win the flag next year.

I am not a Catholic, but do they all barrack for St Kilda?

Thoughts?

If she could pull off a G.F win I would seriously consider heading off to mass every Sunday. In fact this would be her greatest miracle ever - surley all our Catholic supporters have been praying to her ??????? If so what's going on ?

Obviously we've now landed our "big fish" :D

By the way, what will her nickname be? Can't be Macca or Big Mac - Benny's got those covered

The Anglicans, Presos and Methos are relatively harmless - they believe in their own brand of God.
But the Catholics are different in that elect someone, in the current case an ex-Nazi kiddie-fiddler sympathiser - and then claim that this person is now the mouthpiece of God and must be obeyed.
Then as if their brand wasn't stupid enough, they allow their followers to confess their sins - after which all is forgiven as long as they keep topping up that collection plate.

But the final nail in the coffin that sets Catholic stupidity way ahead of the rest is that they have a very "rigorous" and "scientific" methodology of "confirming" and categorising "miracles" in a range of "layers" that eventually lead to the "learned" clergy (in their spare time from trying to cover up the non public child abuse scandals and minimise/payoff/denigrate the known child abuse scandals from within their own enlightened ranks) determining which of these amazing miracle workers deserve "Sainthood".
Typically these "Saints" are long since dead so any rigorous testing is of course not possible - but hey who needs testing when you have peoples word!

Not sure what the point of Sainthood is, other than a marketing opportunity to sell tea-towells and mugs to generate a bit more income for this non tax paying organisation to spread it's "enlightened" word.

Speaking of enlightenment.
Just remember that these enlightened #$%&ers in the Catholic Church can trump up Saints pretty quickly on the basis of dodgy evidence with no scientific standing
BUT it took them THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY years after his death before they finally pardoned Galileo for having the timerity to suggest with a wealth of scientific evidence that the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around as the Catholics believed at the time.
And when did the Catholics finally admit that they had got it wrong?
1800 and something?
No
Try 1992 - less than two decades ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT is the mentality/stupidity we are dealing with here.

She also pulled off another miracle, she became a Saint after "trade week" and before the draft

A religious forum  I like it

You're making way too much sense Enrico. Logic isn't part of religion. An intersting debate is whether religion is the root of all evil, or in fact gives many ppl the world over who live in terrible conditions the strength to live meaningful lives.

As for St Mary - I watched the news wondering who is this Mary MacKillop everyone's going to watch get her sainthood? People are banging on about the wonderful work she has done. I only just realised that this person has been dead for ages

I like the way you think InkerSaint.

I would have even suggested she be made Captain, but I worry that she may lack that bit of mongrel and may in fact shed a tear from time to time.

The other question that goes begging is, why is she wearing Collingwood colours...

i thought relgious bigotry between christians in this country was dead ...obviously i'm wrong....the sort of crap sprouted by you e m reminds me of the bigotry i experienced as a youth when a protestant father wouldn't let me take his daughter to a dance at the local catholic hall...simply because i was a catholic.....to me you are beneath contempt....

My grandfather grew up in a Catholic run orphanage....

Rarely liked to talk about his experiences, but Catholicism has a very, very dark side.

I wish people would spend as much time criticising a religion which practices extreme objectification and mistreatment of women, and openly persecutes homosexuals and those of other religions - i.e. Islam.

Ok so Catholics weren't smart enough to figure out that Gallileo was right for a long time - big deal?

At least they don't subject their women to a regime of subservience and strip away their rights (as happens to women in many Muslim countries).

Mary McKillop did more good in the name of Catholicism than anyone who criticises religion has ever done in their entire lives. Standing up to male heirarchy and working tirelessly to establish schools and orphanages surely deserves some respect, rather than the baseless ridicule that is contained in this thread.

I like the way Legendary thinks.

People like Mary McKillop all have one thing in common, they let their actions do the talking. Like the Saints and their 'bubble', they 'dont worry about what other people think' and 'just get on with their business'.

Maybe we should spend more time doing and less time talknig
