THE CLASH JUMPER ISSUE
avid wrote: Traditional front, black back (sleeves + trim) for home, traditional front, white back (sleeves + trim) for away. It's perfect, it's simple, it's obvious, it's St Kilda.
EXACTLY!

Collingwood's away/clash jumper has been accepted by the AFL!

If we had our home jumper with a white back, swapping the black parts for white we would have more white in our jumper than Collingwood!

So anyone talking about some guideline of 75% is talking absolute crap!

Collingwood's alternative has already been approved!

If we again make a Grand Final this year, because our board are spineless, visionless surrender monkeys, we again might be forced to wear some absolutely shyte away jumper IN A GRAND FINAL!

Why don't we just run out in a white flag!

This issue needs to be sorted NOW!

Our board are accountable to the members and it's about time they truly represented the St kilda brand!

This should be put to a vote of the St kilda members to see if the majority prefer our away jumper to be the home jumper with a white back!

This jumper would not clash with anyone, so there is no reason whatsoever as to why this could not be approved, afterall Collingwood's jumper with far less white has already been accepted!

This is absolute shyte and if we make the Grand Final this year we might yet again be forced to wear some stupid poorly designed jumper served up by an incompetent board who obviously have NFI or know SFA about how to approach this issue with both the members AND the AFL!

If Collingwood can have their away jumper accepted with far less white in it than our Home jumper with a white back then what's the problem?

Westaway telling the members the AFL tell us what we wear is just not good enough and a fair dinkum disgrace!

The board had better get a clue, get their act together sometime soon or they will be petitioned on this issue and the members will demand a vote!

I was busy that night!!!!!

Apparently though someone did raise the issue and was brushed aside with Westaway saying the AFL tell us what we wear!

Then the meeting was promptly shut down!

FWIW

I raised this issue with the board at the 2008 AGM!

I said we might play Collingwood in a Grand Final in the next few years and that we might be forced to wear a clash jumper and it is imperative that we have an away jumper as close to our home jumper as possible and not one with a white panel as wide as the Grand Canyon!

I suggested our home jumper with a white back!

Westaway interjected with " We will our home jumper in Grand Finals"!

I spoke to Ross Levine in September 2010 and he promised me he would take this issue up with the rest of the board!

? not sure what happened there, obviously NOTHING

I wrote a very long, POLITE and detailed email to Michael Nettlefold and received no reply!

Par for the course!

This board does not listen!

They need to be petitioned!

Well I was there, and what Westaway said was that the team who finishes the H&A season higher on the ladder gets to wear their home strip. Sorry for being all pro-AFL but that seems like a fair rule to me. The question that was asked prior to "the meeting being shut down" was more to do with our major sponsor not being decided and how that affects merchandise sales (incl jumpers) preseason. Had nothing to do with the GF

As for the design of our clash strip, well as this one is in its second season, you've got all year to lobby the board for your plan for 2012. I wish you well, your design idea sure isnt the worst out there I happily admit :-)

Oh and you were saying how you were too thrilled with the cross designs. To me all they are doing is extending the design of our shield, which does indeed have a cross.

AND that's entirely NOT the issue!

The issue is when we are forced to wear an away jumper in a Grand Final that we have an away jumper as close to our HOME JUMPER as possible to wear on such an occasion!

ie:- OUR HOME JUMPER WITH A WHITE BACK!

CAPICHE?

Wrong again, this is a new clash jumper this year ( see above ) which I why I spoke to Ross Levine on the phone and tried to get him to raise this issue which he promised he would!

And considering we were forced to wear an away jumper in a Grand Final last year against Collingwood, something I warned the board about at the 2008 AGM with this very specific example which manifested itself two years later, I thought the penny would have finally dropped, but no once again they deliver up another shyte away jumper, when really there is only ONE GENUINE OPTION to ensure our HOME jumper is represented at least on the front of the guernsey in a GRAND FINAL!
Oh and you were saying how you were too thrilled with the cross designs. To me all they are doing is extending the design of our shield, which does indeed have a cross.
The shield ( LOVE IT ) is one thing, but putting a massive cross on the front of the jumper is an entirely different matter and people wonder why we get crucified!

Apparently Westaway urged Ross Lyon to ensure we finished on top so we could wear our home jumper in a Grand Final or words to that effect, while claiming to be a traditionalist!

It is the responsibility of the board to design an away jumper with our home jumper represented on the front so in the event we make a Grand Final and are forced to wear an away jumper at least our home jumper is represented on the front with only the back changing to white!

This is what Collingwood do!

Obviously this simple task is beyond them!

Almost the same comments by "Eastern" on 13/3 - "Letter to Michaels Maibox" thread.

My response stands - This topic, whether you agree or disagree, has plenty of interest for many Saints supporters. That there has been no "club response" to three formal letters, either via their website, or even a phone call, says a lot about what they think - lay low and let things slide.

This is a very topical subject and a few calls to relevant football Radio stations will put a public profile to this question and I bet that only then, will the Club respond. :!:

Yeah I know, talk about alleviating all responsibility while at the very same time displaying gross hypocrisy!

Would Eddie McGuire let this happen, of course not!

Sorry it wasnt that, it was that you even think that was said. Do you write childrens books well or at least write for a comedy TV show because your imagination is fantastic.

I think that I will call a few Radio stations when the appropriate footy segments are on.

If you want something to change - do something about it.

Actually GW did say it, but it was with tongue firmly in cheek and taken as such by RL and 99% of the crowd in attendance

Was no more serious than when GW told Jason Blake "you must have upset the neighbours" when it was announced that 7 people had voted by proxy agasint him recieving a life membership

I am in TOTAL agreement.
Alwaysaway needs to stand up for the StKilda Football Club.
Stand up for the members.
Stand up for the jumper.

I was also at the AGM and heard Westaway say that the higher team wears the home jumper in the Grand Final which is fair enough. The poblem is what if we finish higher and meet Essendon in a grand final?
Will they be wearing a an away strip? No they don't have one!

I would love to see that happen and then the AFL would have to force Essendon to get a clash strip. I gaurantee though we would be forced to wear our away strip in this situation! Our board needs some balls!

anyone else get the feeling that this away jumper being as close as the home jumper, but not getting a peaka boo out of the club thingy really gets ups barks nose???

(i agree)
whats wrong with a jumper that has a white back?
if we can have an away one that has most of the white on the front whats wrong with it being on the back and then having the front bugger all diff from the home one?

the afl tell us what to wear
pffft at that
