What position is that? Fast guy?
run and spread guy. outside player to hop on a handball to carry it once we win possession. our defence is great at winning turnovers and lenny and dal are great at winning at stoppages. often u will watch lenny or dal stop and prop or baulk and go backwards. then we go static. so yeah we need outside guys who can kick. no point being outside when u cant kick.

not just me saying it. pretty much every commentator in the footy world identified we need a few of those types of players.

He's playing in the VFL this week.

Did anyone really expect a guy to debut who didn't play last week?
got in best for sandy last week and saints the week before in coffs.

then 3 separate coaches (kingsley, lyon, berbakov) + footy mgr all mentioned him in press interviews as being a likely debut.

so hardly a saintsational beat-up.

Not ideal.....his diebetes, and it will have an adverse effect at times, especially now whilst he learns to cope with it and the demands of porofessional sport.

How serious is his illness. Has been a recurring issue over the pre-season and has now prevented him from playing Rounds 1 and 2. Is this going to be an ongoing issue related to his diabetes?
That's the OP. Maybe I misinterpreted but it read to me that he was missing two games because of illness.

Just because he's playing for Sandringham doesn't mean he isn't missing out on St Kilda selection because of illness. Fair step up to AFL level, and they are a conservative selection panel

i never mentioned illness ever. for the record i dont think his illness will play any effect on anything. a lot of people have diabetes.

i think hes not in the team cos coach thinks hes not ready or wants him to play at least one sr sandy game. remember sandy havent even played yet. has been praccy matches.

It would have been a whole lot easier to recruit a fit player without "issues".
Bet the other clubs recruiters are laughing at us.

My brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 21.

Main problem was at first weight loss and then weight gain. Took him a while to learn how his body reacts to get his insulin levels right.

Now he knows how his body reacts to different foods, different levels of exercise and it doesn't cause him any problems. It did take him a month or two to get to this stage.

Wish Jamie all the best. There is no reason why he can't go on to have a successful career.

It's a pity for young Cripps if it's an issue that will affect his AFL career and development .. and if Cripps is suffering so is St Kilda - as we need young talented kids out there.

I hope it isn't so .. for the sake of both.

It doesn't help that Gram is a lazy so & so, Montagna is required in the packs too often or getting tagged and our other reasonably quick guys are all tall defenders! Peake's disposal totally negates the vital run & carry that he does provide.

As with almost everyone else I agree that our side needs an injection of youthful pace. Its unfortunate that Ledger did his hammy and Cripps was ill as I reckon they would be virtual certainties otherwise. Al Smith is very stiff, I thought he had a very good pre season.

I'm frustrated that

I did. Walked in the Milson's Point end and lo and behold I popped out in Sydney CBD. Was amazing.

What?!

From all reports we picked up a great player. And from the footage i've seen of him playing in the west, exactly the type of player we need.

The illness was unknown at the time of the draft, and in medium to long term it is not going to be an issue.

not only that he was listed as emergency in rnd1
you dont list someone not fit as an emergency, he obviously didnt make the grade for a rnd1 debut
