2 unforced changes a first for Rossy?

Post: # 1057828Post saintspremiers »

I am amazed.

Can't remember the last time he did it if you exclude the Hawks tank game in Tassie in 2009 when we were cruising.

i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

He must have nightmares...

Post: # 1058013Post WinnersOnly »

Ross must be have nightmares having to put some trust in the younger players - over the same old retreads.

We have all been critical of the younger players not improving quickly enough - but what hope have they had of breaking into the side in recent times.

Ross's decision to show blind faith in the senior blokes IMO has attributed to the lack of development shown by the next level. When you think 'no matter how hard you train or what you show for Sandi you weren't going to get a game' has to have had a negative affect on the lads.

All the kids want to do is play AFL footy and they are consistently overlooked when the senior players are not performing WOW ! Then they have to do a apprenticeship of 4 years. 4 years is an eternity when you are a kid - we are lucky they have remained with us!

Ross players need to be rewarded and others need to be reminded of why playing AFL is important to them! Use the VFL system as a motivating tool and play the kids or you and the Saints will have a reduced tenure![/u]

I think Ross is showing a change of heart but it has to be done gradually over the season. There are still games to be won and a finals series to aim for.

You just can't bring all these young kids in at the same time. If people think that will bring instant success then you wonder why Sandy didn't perform all that well last year laden with all that talent.

If you want to give up on 2011 that's your call. But I won't be signing up with your group.

Yes introduce youth; but do it gradually.

Agree with the Doc. The season has a long way to go. Change for the sake of change will not guarantee wins, but we do some fresh blood. The guys pushing up need to get in on the merit of their performance in the VFL.

Tactically, we need additional speed on Sunday. Blake and Baker (injured) have been identified by many as needing to go. It will be interesting to see the final team make-up - for me, Winmar & Stanley are not ready. Kosi, Sneider and Gamble in. Smith in, Jones out. Sub - Smith ?

Is Kosi fit enough? If not, Stanley in for his run and ruck assist. The inclusion of both Sneider & Kosi could be a risk about "both" being able to run out, what will be a very fast and intense game?

+ 1. well put. i dont think he has the motivation factor balance right between loyalty to the core group and incentive for young blokes.

he remains loyal to the core group because they won so many games for him - but in many of those games we won despite some of the bottom tier players, not because of them.
