a few guesses...

Rocket Rod Keogh (toughman)
Burkey (all time favourite)
Steven Sziller (remember those 6 goals v sydney when we won by 101 points - we still watch that tape :D )
Winmar - i think 1995 was a pretty good year for Nicky - strong on tackling.
Dean Anderson (another toughman)

Brilliant work Len, you had them all!

Steven Sziller was at 13th overall with 61
Rodney Keogh came in at 16, with 58 (in just 16 games!)
Dean Anderson was aty 21, with 50 tackles
And coming in at 27, Nathan Burke had 49 tackles, but plasyed on 18 games.

Well done!

OK - the year is 2002.

The GTrain was still playing back mostly.
The Yapper was top of our goalkickers with 50 (a great effort too)

Who was the player that kicked the highest number of goals in a game, how many and against who?

I don't know if this will be an easy one or not....

Who was the St. Kilda Best & Fairest in 1925?

...given Colin Watson won the Brownlow that year, he would have to be a fair chance...

No hint required.
How many gun players can there be in 1925?

What about Barney Carr? - he captained the side for part of 1925.

I can't get over Watson not being B&F - maybe they used a different system to the Brownlow. According to the Hall of Fame, Watson only played 15 games in 1925 but was BOG in 9!!

How sad that for so many years (in the olden days) the Saints were in turmoil.

I already mentioned Barney Carr...

How about the centre half back Cyril Gambetta ???

Well so you did St. Fid - how silly of me not to notice.
Gambetta would be a possibility I think.

If not the only other possibility that I could find would be Roy Bence.

A tricky one.

Correct St. Fid, it was Cyril Gambetta. You won't find it in almost all of the history books though, as it only came to light after the discovery of the "Taylor" shield last year. This piece of club history contained the names of many of our "best & fairest" winners prior to the introduction of the C.T. Suhr Memorial Trophy in 1930.

It was being used as a prop by an amateur theatre company for a production of "The Club".

The discovery of this treasure means that we have the most complete list of club B&F winners in the league. It is currently undergoing restoration and, I hope, will go on display at the club.

good question Grimfang - had us thinking there.
Still, I don't know how Watson didn't win it.....

The club should update the missing data on its honour roll shouldn't it.
I read somewhere that Cubbins won the B&F in 4 years during this time.

It was a great read about finding that shield - last year I think?

It could have been a right bugger of a question if I'd phrased it differently.

As another piece of trivia, someone knew what it was before it was handed into the club, but didn't recognise its value. They simply swiped the badge on the shield that had Cazaly's name on it. :(

Pretty sure it was last year. Russell Holmesby is currently overseeing it's restoration.

I was suprised that the information hadn't been updated on the club's website. Part of the reason why I posed the question actually.
