Was that the year we traded for Ex Hawks in Morris and Wittman and I think one other whose name escapes me for the moment??

Well that was a fluke....
The wobbles ended the run of the weagles recently (a big upset).
Last beating first.
When was the last time the Saints knocked off the top team
from P16
?

Nup, we didn't beat the blues in 1996.....
the blues beat us in R9 - we were 11th, they were 4th.
A hint....it was more recent than 1996.

Yes Jed well done.
Early days of 1997... but anytime is the right time to beat the wobbles.
The wobbles finished out of the 8 if I remember correctly and the Saints performed well...bu stumbled at the final hurdle.
Over to you Jed.....

I am finding it very hard to find more questions...
This is a hard one (sorry)
Round 7 - 1922
The Saints hosted Essendon at the Junction Oval
Essendon were 14 points up at half time, but in the 3rd quarter the Saints were having a recovery up until the 20 minute mark.
The umpire called a halt to the proceedings for a short while, which stopped our run...
Why did the umpire call a short halt to the game?

Umpire felt the players weren't respecting his authority. ie lots of back chat etc.
Did the ump temporarily halt the game to take control?
Just a guess

The match was stopped because of the procession for the funeral of Lt James Bennett, a famous aviator who died in an around the world flight attempt. He was a St Kilda supporter, and lived in the area.

OK.
St Kildas results towards the end of 1911 were incredibly bad, due to a players revolt and strike. Which players were the ringleaders of the strike and why were they so upset?

The strike occurred because the committee had decided to recall 10 dressing room passes. Welles Eicke and Joe Hogan, along with generous club benefactors were affected by this decision.
Harry Lever was the ringleader, assisted by Hugh Plowman and Gordon Dangerfield. The passes were the trigger but the players also had gripes about the smoke nights. All but 3 players stood by the ringleaders and the club then asked them to hand in their uniforms.
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons; for you are a quick and tasty morsel.

Absolutely perfect, Grimfang.
Funny that the strike was resolved before the last game of the year, but we still got belted!
It is your turn.
