How do we all think Peake's going?

Post: # 1088795Post Dr Spaceman »

We've had threads about Jack and Ben and Armo and Gilbert and Simpkin and Ledger and, of course, Raph. We've even had one about a bloke who didn't play.

But how do people think Peake went?

For mine I reckon he's doing okay, even if he's not in the top bracket. Since coming back he seems to have a new urgency about his play and I just reckon he adds a bit of life to the team.

Given his age and previous football history at Freo it could of course all turn to crap, however at the moment I'm more than happy seeing him run out for us.

Like Gram last night he seemed like he was under instruction to play on at every opportunity and move the ball quickly and like Gram he seemed to move too quickly for the teams liking. Peake should keep it up though as should Gram and hopefully we eventually get that nice balance between attack and defence.

I agree Doc, I think he is going ok, he has good speed and kicks the occaisonal goal. Seems to have a few critics here which I don't understand

He's one-sided, and his skills aren't great, but...he moves the ball quickly. I like that he and Gram played on so much.

They get the ball forward before the opposition gets numbers back - we don't have enough players doing that.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

I think he is a below average footballer who can't kick and can't win the ball. Playing on and turning on his non preferred is icing on the cake.

We will not move forwards with players like him in the team.

I reckon he is doing very well - last night not quite as good as the previous 2 - but I like what he brings to the team, run & carry.
Smart footballer

Last 3 weeks, 23, 21 & 17 poss - seems like he's finding the footy to me - and to the coaches

I was surprised to see he only had 3 contested possessions, I was sure he was involved at more stoppages etc. Perhaps nothing that gave him a stat?

He's going okay but needs to do more damage with the ball. Kicking lacks penetration. Bring back the torp

Move it quickly to whom? Not so much last night, but often we have nearly everyone behind the ball. No benefit to moving it quickly if there's no one to go to.

For the most part, Peake looked good last night. He gives us some much needed speed around the ground.

A big improver since coming back into the side for Melbourne game.

I tip my cap to him... the peake of it, if you will... shocker!

Why worry about stats? I believe more in what you and I see. He's been good since his sojourn at Sandy.

True.

I just overthink it when I see the stats, to my natural eye he seemed hungry for the ball, over 4 quarters too.

I thought he was up to his neck in it, and his execution was the best I've seen from him.

Was commenting to friends how well he's going. No complaints.

Playing well, finding the ball and using his pace and attacking the goals.
Hopelessly one sided and not part of the future though! The way I see it he is keeping a spot warm for the likes of Cripps.

Maybe this year?

Something that I noticed about Peake (maybe I'm wrong, maybe I got him mixed up with others) is that he was providing a lot of protection to the ball carrier, shepparding and sheilding really well giving our boys an extra step or two of room.

But maybe I'm wrong?

Seems I'm alone in regards to Peake. Pity we have seen what he has done in grand finals.

Soft at the contest, runs but turns it over, fumbles, poor decision maker. Don't know why we persist.

I think he's a liability but hey if Leon Davis can reinvent himself then maybe there is hope for the 15 or so list cloggers we've got on the list.

Probable because in the first quarter he was involved in many scoring opportunities.
