The Saints have always had a fiery relationship with the umpiring fraternity. What incident triggered the relationship hitting its lowest ebb? What was the low point of the Saints relationship with the umpires?

Clue: A trip to the tribunal was involved.

Lockett?

Big Tony brought his greyhound with him to one of his tribunal visits and it pissed on an umpy?

Seriously, must have been before Big Carl? - that's about as far back as I go in terms of Saints history.

During the Big Carl Era. Not long after our premiership.

We were such a fair team back then.

The only player that might have been considered a tad rough (only at times and only v. dirty opp. players) was the Cowboy.

What a player. Spoke at a recent aftermatch function. Great guy.

Not the Cowboy?

A clue?

Assuming it involves a player? maybe you could tell us how many games (approx) - less than 20, less than 100, whatever?

My memory is not that good going back that far.

The trigger was a report involving a Geelong player named Sharrock.

Another clue: The reporting umpire was Ray Frost, a boundary umpire.

This isn't the answer you are looking for but Craig O'Brien allegedly followed the umpire home after a tribunal hearing.

Gotta love the Blake!

The answer was:-
During the 1967 season vs. Geelong, Saints ruckman, Bob Pascoe, was reported by boundary umpire, Ray Frost, for alledgedly kicking Geelong forward, John Sharrock.

Pascoe said that he had stumbled over Sharrock in the course of play.

Frost's version of the incident, regarded by the Saints as fanciful at best, had Pascoe deliberately standing on Sharrock with his left foot and delivering a kick with his right.

To the amazement of most people present, the tribunal suspended Pascoe for the rest of the season, 11 matches plus finals.

In retaliation the club banned umpires from post-match functions. It led to bitter feelings between the club and the umpires and, some believe, the aftershocks still echo through to today.

Quck and easy question for whoever wants to post the next one.

Who won the 1966 Grand Final?

Assuming my answer is correct, my question is as follows -

St Kilda tasted a great success in the early 1940's winning back to back Reserves Flags in 1942 and 43. Who was the coach of those sides, and which team did he originally come from?

It was Hugh Thomas who went on to coach the first in 1944 and 45.

Don't know which team he originally come from

It's getting really hard to find a question...

What number did our rookie ruckman Garth Pickford wear in 1999??

No mate, the highest number that year was #46 - Murray Pitts (an other rookie)

How about I give you the answer so that you can ask some questions....
