Where did that 2nd half come from?

Post: # 1126858Post perfectionist »

While we up at half time, I thought the game was very even. Not after half time though, just complete domination. Five more like that and we will be home (I can dream!).

Not the sort of performance we are accustomed to.....if only that was a normal performance we could ALL be optimistic...

Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

It was Collingwood-like domination.

It was standard for the first 15 rounds of 2009.

Unfortunately that now needs to be retained until the last final to bring home the Holy Grail, starting with Caaaarrrllton.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

I gotta be honest - as much as we played great footy, north just completely stopped. I thought it looked like the last 10 minutes of the game instead of the 1st 10 minutes after half time. Couldn't believe how insipid North were. We had 43 tackles to 3/4 time - I just reckon we played really well BUT they played terribly. We should have won by over 100 points. Missed about 10 sitters in the 2nd half.

Rapt with the win, but I reckon the Kanga's poo-ed their pants when the heat went up round about the time of Armo's goal. Insipid effort thereafter that could well undermine them for quite a while.

We were good, it's true.

But they were cheesecake.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Because they are Shyte. They beat nothing last week remember.

Bring on Carlscum. We are a definite 50/50 shot as they are playing for nothing.

lets hope we're peaking at the right time , our running of the ball was impressive all night , and we played very little shut down footy.
always amazes me how in games like tonight we have 30+ scoring shots ,yet when we play more shut down footy we're lucky to have 20 , after all you have to be able to score to win most games .

You reckon?

I thought guys like Goddard, Joey and Roo turned the game around.

Gilbert did play well tonight though, and Armo, loved both their games.

They were playing well early....the guns

Dal, bj led the game in possession in the first half.....roo's goal halfway through the second started it....but he set up the first two also...

Riewoldt.

When your captain leads, the men follow.

BJ is his lieutenant, but lieutenants don't lead IMO.

Harvey was always our best player, but Loewe, burke and hammil were our captains.

In the middle though, something shifted 1/2 way through the second.

We were actually getting belted in the clearances.....

Armo made an impact in the third.....but our overall intensity through the midfield lift..there's went backwards....weak as piss some of their front running mids...

Young swallow aside

North wilted when we turned it on. They just gave up. They were pathetic.

Great effort apart from Gram. He needs to improve as I find him lazy and unwilling to help the team. Maybe we should trade him to North for Petrie?
Do you reckon they'd be interested?

His name is Brendon Goddard.
He was clearly the one who took it up a couple of notches halfway through the 2nd, when he was playing in the middle and from then on we partied like it was early-mid 2009.
He grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, with a couple of brilliant attacks on the ball (including one where he just charged through a pack) and some other telling touches (before half time) and we never looked back from there. If he keeps going like that in the next few weeks, anythings possible.

YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.
