Look Im not knocking Riewoldt at all hes a champ but the precious princesses have to understand hes rising 29, played CHF a tough role his whole career and clealry got some from of knee problem.
He will ofcourse still produce big games and big weeks......my view is that will be interjected with more quieter games....he needs some help.

even Champs can have a slump, this guy is special and will be back, oppositions will still use multiple players aginst him and to our advantage regardless. Your precious princess jibe was also very misplaced

Im not so sure bout the precious princess bit...I reckon we have a few round here who cant handle a discussion/differing opinion bout a great saints player who has struggled ALL year (not a nice little slump..).
We need to start thinking bout life after Riewoldt - thus he needs help. He'll still be a great player...but watching him 1 out tonight beaten by Carltons third best defender was an indication.

I get a little concerned when Roo is getting beaten by s*** trucks. Henderson is pooh, and 2 years ago Roo would have had his 3rd opponent by 3/4 time against that sort of defense. Time for others to step up I reckon. Roo is still valuable, but it's time to acknowledge, he's not the same player. His ground level play (which relies on agility) just isn't there. And he really struggles to get separation on his opponent on the lead these days. His athleticism in the air was what him such a hard match up. He would run and jump meaning the only way of stopping him was by tunnelling him, (as Craig Bolton worked out) These attributes are slowly diminishing though, and he still contributes down fwd, but he's no longer the game breaker.

Didn't Hawthorn try and use Dawson as a forward option? To me he looked more comfortable up there. Better then having 4 goals booted on him in defense.....and holy crap he kicked one!
Reiwoldt was double and triple tagged tonight. He couldn't say boo without a Blues player on him. Tough night for the skip, but he'll bounce back.
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!
He no longer has the jump that he once did, no doubt due to his past injuries. Most CHFs have the same problem as they age, but generally they make up for it with greater bulk. Nick does not and is very easily pushed off the ball. His running ability used to destroy opponents, but the new crop are now a lot younger than him. It's why, as I said at the time, you should always enjoy brilliance while you can. At his peak, he was the best mark I have ever seen. Remember, most of his marks were taken at a time when there could be no touching of opponents and the ball had to be held all the way to the ground (both rules made more lenient recently). Look at any reel of great marks of the past, and most would not have been paid during the period 2001 to 2009. But even the brightest star dims eventually. On the other hand, he did kick 5 last week.

Exactly. He came out all fired up last week after a week of negative press, but how he went this week was always going to be the test of whether he is really back or not. He very clearly isn't. It's only going to get tougher on him from here, as Carlton's undermanned backline is hardly the best in the league. They said in the rooms after the game that his knee was a lot more sore this week than it was last week against the Roos, too, so hopefully it will settle down a bit in the next few days.
He may have to play 4 weeks on, one week off from next week on, as his knee seems to get bad by finals time if he doesn't.
Quite frankly, Reiwoldt's game as a captain was poor, and for a club going into finals, the captain needs to show better body language and lead by example, not look like a schoolboy footballer as he did last night.
Not using this as an excuse but I am aware of some person issues going on that could be affecting him - having said that I think being paid what he is some professionalism is needed and he really needs to stop having a go at team mates when they look for another target inside 50.

I agree that as pro sportsman on a monster salary, he just has to do the job, and if there are issues in his private life that are so pressing that he can't do his job, then that's something he and RL need to work out for both he and the club's best outcome. I get paid an absolute pittance, I have issues and worries in my private life, but I still front up at work, and do a good job and I am not critical of my workmates when things don't go exactly right.
Lets not forget that Rooey took a massive hit last week and was as close as you could get to being completely KO'd. There must have been some level of concussion and history tells us that rarely, if ever does a player come out and blitz the week after such a hit. Lets hope he's fit & firing for the game against Sydney !!

Could it possibly be any worse than the Swans Jarred McVeigh situation? He returned and played very well on Saturday.
BOG a week before in the one that cemented our spot in the finals, the one that really counted, the one in which he was concussed but played on, and now people are saying he's somehow shot.

Well he's going to have to live up to his reputation and play like the champion he is supposed to be for the rest of September. I think the largest book in the world is the excuse book for Roo not playing well in Grand Finals -get out there son, hold up your head and remember the deeds of the late Doc who played finals with both knees wobbling.
