Nah, I was there, sitting right above it. Tactical genius I tell you ...

To put another quick key forward down there ... who would have thought?

I haven't seen the game but one could perhaps argue that it was glaringly obvious from the team selection that the balance of the side was out

we always needed more run + another forward

it may have been a master stroke coaching move... but it's responsive to a poorly selected team

what was the point of playing Dawson down back if there wasn't a suitable match up for him? Why not drop him or Blake for the week and actually play one of our forwards from the 2s

to me this just continues to reinforce my concerns about RL's team selection

The first 3 goals by the Blues were all kicked by Dawson's opponents. He looks clueless at times and he was moved because of his ordinary display. Saying that our back line without him looked much better and he certainly moved much more like a confident player on the forward line for us.

I believe RL just made a brilliant balance in the team selection - while MG may not have been a perfect 'in' against a speedy side like Carlton, to get half a game under his belt prior to finals games was a great decision and will stand us in good stead.
Even MG with all his footy smarts/experience looked very underdone (especially early - what would you expect - first game for the season), but his confidence will be so much the better (mentally and physically) for having got through his game and will be the better for it.
RL managed to give him the run in preparation for the (near) future, AND win the Melb final against Sydney.

Well done RL - love his decisions and will not second guess him. HE knows what he wants, how to get there and has (by the looks of it) the total confidence of the players.

Without us (the supporters) knowing EVERYTHING that RL does how can we rate him - only by results.

He has me...

Ross Lyon is (in the modern idiom) 'da BOMB'!!!
