$1.5 million loss reported in the Herald Sun!! Stadium Deal?
It was reported we have a very poor stadium deal and we have traded to a 1.5 million dollar loss. Does anyone know anything about this?
How can this be possible?
I thought we were very stable off field.
Can anyone enlighten?

the loss has been predicted for some time.
and the size has been out there for a while- the stadium deal is part of it.
people say how can there be a loss when we were in Grand finals-- it's just evidence that coming second gets you nothing? and evne coming second twice wont get you much....
plus the size of the club in most departments has increased.

don;t remember it being that much- but when you do post a profit then you make adjustments in spending-- shows the brittleness of the football business.Vazelos wrote:Didn't we table close to 2 million dollar profit last year?
How can it swing so much?

We should move on to a similar deal to what Carlton and Essendon do. They play half their home games at MCG and half at Etihad.
Obviously we wouldn't be able to pull the types of crowds clubs like that can, but i reckon we could seriously get over 50,000 to some games at the MCG. In return we'd make some good money out of it and also get to play at the G more as that is where finals are played.
Sounds like we are getting screwed in this current Etihad deal :s

Help ourselves survive
Doing much with little has been a recurrent theme at St.K. and snagging 6 home games at the 'G' is worth it. The afl shows its' hand clearly in its refusal to buy out the Dome and instead have a number of the lesser financially equipped clubs do it for them. An MCG move now would bring greater financial security and the opportunity to have more game time at the home of footy.

Your presuming the AFL will allow this, they wont they have to play certain amount of games at the dome each year they can not Allow St Kilda to move to the G.Megamaguire wrote:Doing much with little has been a recurrent theme at St.K. and snagging 6 home games at the 'G' is worth it. Why don't we just merge with Melbourne, then we'll get to play at the MCG and keep our coachausfatcat wrote:Your presuming the AFL will allow this, they wont they have to play certain amount of games at the dome each year they can not Allow St Kilda to move to the G.Megamaguire wrote:Doing much with little has been a recurrent theme at St.K. and snagging 6 home games at the 'G' is worth it.
