Choco Williams - best available coach

Post: # 1139507Post farquhar »

Choco Williams is the best available coach.

He won a flag with a very minor club, how well are they going without him.

Forget Malthouse, Eade would be good, but Choco is the pick.

He lives and breathes football. Is a brilliant teacher of the game and knows how to win. And he wants to live in Melbourne.

Let's get him.

Leigh Mathews, is he up to it?

If it was a choice between Choco, Malty and Eade I would go for Choco.

Need to convince Paul Roos to coach.

We need to aim high and not take no for an answer.

Choco's last few years at Port were a disaster. Huge reason why they are in the mess they currently are.

They played soft, unaccountable footy, and mentally they were weak was water once a team got a run-on. All sorts of rumours about 'golden passes' given to players who simply weren't performing.

What about being ballsy and employing a young coach to rebuild AND take us back to the top? Would Simon Goodwin be interested?

No, I don't think we need a young coach.

We need Mark Williams, he had rat cunning, knows football inside out.

He can deliver the message to the older players like Reiwoldt, hayes, kosi, blake, dal santo, goddard and tell them they have underachieved as a group.

He can also teach the kids how to play.

I like the Lenny as playing coach idea. Unfortunately the last playing coach in AFL/VFL was Malcolm Blight at North. He lasted at that for less time than he lasted at St Kilda.

Whoever it is it has to be someone with a strong christian faith - with all the off-field goings-on in the last few years it's clear that Lyon was lacking in spiritual leadership.

Actually Mark Williams is a devout Christian who doesn't drink alcohol or even caffeine.

Game has passed him by - tatically no good and you saw how he went when the Power started to drop away.

I think that a new up-and-comer, supported by an experienced ex-coach would be good for us.

We need someone that will be there for the future - not the short term.
Someone who can relate to the younger guys and develop the list.
