I'm really scared at the prospect of Rob Harvey as our coach, if he fails and we sack him, god help us!!!

GT not convinced either. Not that he offered up any alternative.

Why the hell not I say! Would need some heavy hitters wirth experience behind him though.

Regarding failing, lets be honest, we are in for some pain, the "window" is well and truly shut and the ole rebuild or something close to it is long overdue. So as long as the club understands this and keeps its expectations realistic, I cant see a problem.

You want more members, or more to the point lost members back, get harvs....

Players will play for him, that much is certain.

Harvey isnt a strong enough character to coach. will need another 10yrs as assitant to convince otherwise. His performance as midifield coach has been sub par this year.

I dont agree with flatulence man Grant Thomas much....but hes right when he says "better out there to coach St Kilda FC than Rob Harvey..."

Harvs is a club legend. It should stay that way.

Not bothered about Watson, he's an Essendon legend, we need to hang on the few legends we have...

I highly doubt that he will even get an interview.

Subject to how many they've got to listen to they may indeed speak to him.

If only to hear his ideas for taking the team forward and to be able to give him feedback for future coaching applications.

If they've got the time they can afford a club legend that much.

I think the club very early on should have said "Rob you will be caretaker....thats CARETAKER..Rob..."

At least to protect his rep for now.

How anyone can tell if he's right or not, no one knows until you give him a go.

Harv's will never do a Ross and turn his back on the club, in fact, if Harvs didn't think he was doing well or struggling, he would step aside.

If he wins us a flag, he would be called a god.

The only rep he'd loose if he couldn't coach, would be just that, he can't coach, he will always be remembered as a champ player for the club

Richmond would never sack Kevin Bartlett either.

I've been wrong before but Harvs doesn't strike me as a senior coach. Takes a certain set of skills and I hope we don't go down that path.

Loved him as a player, but this is a different thing all together.

I don't think he should get the job , he maybe needs a bit more experience, however it is fantastic to see someone who bleeds red white & black come out and say he wants the job .
Would be nice if GT who says he loves the club yet most times i hear him speak he is bagging it , was positive about the goings on there.

I love Harvs, but he's not the right man for the job. You don't need to be a star player to be a coach. Just look at the other appointments that have been made in recent days.

By the same token, being a star player should hardly be a point against you. Look at the Collingwood assistants who are being handed jobs right now. They aren't terribly experienced. The only one of the new coaches who has a lot of experience is McCarthy.

There's no reason a successful coach has to be a Malthouse style spitting venom or Eade smashing phones. My guess is most of those doubting Banger are doubting him because he comes across as a softly spoken guy and we're terrified of the Watson/Voss factor. On his coaching record, there's no reason to doubt him.

I think Harves could work. Pelchen's going to be making a lot of the crucial decisions. Follow the Hird model as much as possible and bring in quality people to work with Harvey. Maybe welcome Max back and see if he has any Collingwood secrets. See if Banger has any big, scary friends who want to help Roo with his kicking.

You never know. Ross was the coldest coach I've ever seen. It might actually be nice to have a coach that fans can connect with. We might even sell a few memberships.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

I thought kingsley woulld be caretaker.
Not smart if the board are setting harves up for disappointment by building his hopes up then letting him down.

Harves will not be coaching us.

Perhaps if he was coaching with a director of coaching to help mentor him like Bomber Thompson is for James Hird at Essendon, maybe he could settle in.

But agreed with GT - great player, doesn't have the makings of a great coach.
