Watters, Johnners, Aggers or Blowers?
Scott Watters?
Could be our next coach.
Always sounds to me like he belongs on 'Test Match Special' in England.
Like 'Johnners' (the late Brian Johnston), 'Blowers' (Henry Blofeld) or 'Aggers' (Jonathon Agnew).
'Oh Aggers, do stop!'

read some of his thoughts on Magpies game against Cats.....guy seems to have a good handle on the game....loved his bit about how Pies defence has won them games.....but they need to focus on attack as well as this is their "upside".....
Refreshing to have a guy who understands there are 2 sides to footy...

A win/win would be to employ Watters and hire Ayres as an assistant coach and get some serious male hair product company to sponsor us.Con Gorozidis wrote:saw him interviewed last night.
what the hell is going on with his hair? serious questions need to be asked.
ANY THOUGHTS?
I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

from the little I have heard, he does seem to want the right balance between defence and attack, I would be happy if he was our coach, the question is has he applied for it?Teflon wrote:read some of his thoughts on Magpies game against Cats.....guy seems to have a good handle on the game....loved his bit about how Pies defence has won them games.....but they need to focus on attack as well as this is their "upside".....

Watters is my tip..heard Dermott Brereton saying that his understanding of tactics and game style was the best he has encountered in his years of footy..and Dermie has known a few good ones

Me serious? Your joking abviously. The problem with you is want things to happen and you are serious about that but they are actually jokes.Con Gorozidis wrote:U have to ¡e dead serious. In plugger 66 case u have to be dead serious about ross lyon and maybe go for the dockers now he is coach cos he is just so god darn good at life.I Love Peter Kiel wrote:Sorry, didn't realise you couldn't be jocular on this forum....SENsaintsational wrote:FFS.
By the way what the hell does your comment mean. Do I care that RL left. No. Do I think we can get a coach just as good. Hopefully. Do I follow Freo now. Never.

why not an experienced senior coach?
I am a little concerned that names like Watters are in the mix. Sure, sometimes these gambles pay off, but often they don't (Watson), or take years to bear fruit (Alves).
I appreciate that these guys have done their so-called apprenticeships but I would much rather have Eade or Williams at the helm, with guys like Watters under him. Eade has something to prove and has over ten years experience in the caper.
There is no reason that, with a bit of luck, and with the talent that we have in our senior core, along with the glimpses that I saw from Cripps, Ledger and Sippos this year, we can't jump back into the top four in 2012. And Leigh Matthews who is as good a judge as any said as much recently.
No more rookies for mine.

Eade as coach or as a mentor for a rookie coach would almost mean the same thing ..hoping they go with this model

With Malthouse effectively ruling himself out, I'm on the Watters wagon.
I liked him as a player - not that it means much - but he always struck me as a player who knew 'angles' on a field, like he squeezed the most from his talent and played more on intelligence.
He's coached two WAFL premierships [winners are winners, at any level] and has seen Collingwood's tactical evolution first hand as MM's right-hand man.
Not only that, but MM hand-picked him because he was amongst the smarted players he ever coached. Not bad when you consider the WCE 1991-4 unit was as defensively disciplined as they come.
In a relatively shallow batch - as it was when we picked Lyon - this bloke stands out for mine.

Re: why not an experienced senior coach?
watters is more erxperianced than ross was when he first started. ross had a number of years as an assistant. at least watters has won a flag in in the WAFL and is assitant coach to to the magpies.samuraisaint wrote:I am a little concerned that names like Watters are in the mix.
