Sandringham coach
From Bayside Leader
SANDRINGHAM has parted ways with senior coach Brett Lovett.
In a surprise development last Friday, the Zebras told the former Melbourne star they were going back to a full-time coaching position, primarily to appease alignment partner St Kilda.
Lovett, one year into a two-year contract, was a part-time coach.
Sandy president Gerry Ryan and general manager John Mennie visited Lovett at his Mornington Peninsula nursery to deliver the news.
``It came as a shock considering we'd had the best and fairest the night before and we'd done all our reviews and were well into planning for next year,'' Lovett said on Saturday morning.
``The way they explained it, St Kilda approached them and said with Ross Lyon going they wanted to change the coaching structure and go full-time at VFL level.
``They (Ryan and Mennie) said I could put in for it and they would recommend I do it, but there were no guarantees and at the end of the day it would probably be up to the new St Kilda senior coach to decide. They knew I wasn't interested in a full-time role so that was the end of it.''

King maybe okbut I dont think Bakes would want to coach or we would want him to coach. Doubt they would use King either as we then have to find another assistant at the Saints. Brad Gotch is the man I would be chasing. Will most likely leave Scorps and has a great record with young guys.whiskers3614 wrote:how would a combination of KIng/ Baker for Sandy suit Saints?

They will do that. Did it this year with Paul Hudson and will do it next year as well. The Sandy coach next year will be like Andy Lovell was when he coached Sandy. He will be on both panels but you cant be a coach of Sandy and a real assistant coach on the Saints.whiskers3614 wrote:what i'm suggesting is some sort of overlap between the senior/Sandy coaching panels.

This situation at Sandringham could be a positive for BOTH clubs if the right coach is appointed. I think it would be best to wait until the new SAINTS coach is announced as he would need to have some input into that appointment. By my calculations will be another 1 or 2 assistants appointed in the not too distant future as well !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
