Sandgropers at the Saints.
Scott Watters is I think our first Sandgroper as coach. Alan Killigrew ended his days living in Perth, but don't think we had any coaches from there.
But we've had a fair few boys from WA, and quite a few now including Peake, Jones, Ray, plus Crocker, Cripps, Ledger, young Winmar, Smith, and Andreoli. That would have to be the most at any one time!
Back in time...George Young, John McIntosh, Bruce Duperouzel, Paul Harding, the Sidebottoms, the Great Nicky Winmar, ....was it Ken Mann?
Who else? Left a few out....

Came over about the same time as George Young. About the time I started going to the footy on a weekly basis.Verdun66 wrote:Never knew that. Just googled him and see he makes wine in the Margaret River now. Good on him.Dr Spaceman wrote:Russell Reynolds
Undersized Centre Half Back who had a fairly brief career. But at his best he was pretty good

WA has a long history of St Kilda players... I was at onetime putting together a list of them all but hit a brickwall on it ... Someone suggested to me to contact Russle Holmsby but I think I lost his email address

Still has a Robert Harvey type hair style, just a little greyer. Or maybe it was Ken Mann who Harves modelled his hairstyle on, not Uncle Neil

Ralph turned on free grog on 24 September 1966 after the Saints won the premiership.thequarry wrote:Was Brian Sierakowski from WA or did he just finish his career there?Johnny Favier wrote:David Sierakowski, Gavin Mitchell
Matthew Carr was from WA (part of the 1998-2000 downward spiral with Mitchell).

Then went off with the crowd and danced around Tommy Bent's statue. Aaaaaah what an afternoon and night?
Maybe this century I can experience such euphoria once more......not too much to ask is it???
