Where would Saad and Milera go in this draft?

Post: # 1175892Post fugazi »

Given they are older players, anyone have an idea where they would've figured...are they 3rd, 4th rounders, fifth rounders, projects, rookies or better?

Mid 2nd to 3rd... Milera probably the higher rated of the two..

They would have been the No: 1 and No: 2, picks right?

Saad - 30 to 50 (Was rated pretty high by some, most expected the GWS would keep him)

Milera - 50 to undrafted (there was little talk about him, I'm pretty sure very few people on here would have known who he was)

Saad was rated quite highly kicking 60 goals for the bullants, he became more known when following his impressive time in the repeated sprints coming first and then finished highly in the other sprints. He was tipped to go first or second round. Milera was a bit of anmore unknown, he is also quite skinny for someone his age, and didn't get picked at all last year leading clubs to be skeptical of his potential. Milera would have been more of a 3rd rounder

was 50 goals (not 60), goalless only twice on the year and kicked 3 in each of the 3 games played against (the all-conquering) port melbourne

4th in the VFL goalkicking (behind Fev and two port guys, they really did dominate)

Saad to go second round, say 30s. I would have thought Moz would have been late to rookie.

I think people are right - given small fwds are popular right now - saad would have gone highish - like 30s or 40s.
Milera a late pick up 70s or rookie.

Either way - once you are picked up a number is completely meaningless.
if these guys train hard and eat right etc etc and get the bodies needed for afl - then ANYTHING can happen.
clearly they can play - now its matter of getting afl bodies and a competiive attitude.

good luck chaps!

I saw a few vfl games on tv and saw Saad as an exciting player. I thought he looked AFL quality and am sure he would have been on quite a few watch lists. Speed and skill is always highly rated.

So the consensus seems to be Saad and Milera and #25 were good pickups for #20.

Lance or James??

Not just by us, but also by those who follow other sides (on BF). It was talked about as pretty much the steal of trade week and most were wondering how the hell we pulled that off. The Wonder Soap (Saad) was spoken about a few weeks earlier as being likely to go in the top 30 in the draft!

And you would have to go back to the Gehrig and Hamill days to find any universal approval of any trades completed by our club.

Schnieder and Dempster for #26 was pretty solid and Farren Ray was effectively free.
