The first event in the Series will take place this Saturday at Mothers Beach in Mornington when the players take part in the Mornington 1200 Grand. This is a community event where competitors swim a 1.2km course from Mothers Beach to Mills Beach.

When are the Saints coming over to the West to play in the pre season competition (Is it stilll the NAB Cup)? Is it sometime in March? There are a few good ocean swims that month. Hopefully our sharks will have gone from our beaches by then............ don't know about the stingers tho!

If they want to come late Feb and are up to it ...... Sat 25, they could try themselves out in the Rottnest Chanel Swim 19.7km Solo, duo or team. I'd like to do a duo with Lenny :P :P

I now see the Saints will be here for NAB Cup match on Sat 10 March.

Now on Sunday the 11 March there is the Coogee Jetty to Jetty Swim 1.5km, the boys could use this as their recovery swim.

For the players on a modified program there is also a 750m event they could splash around in.

I will not do the swim myself, I will stand there with a towel to dry the boys off when they come in :P :P :P :P

Brett Peake's response
"looking forward to the 1200m swim tomorrow down the bay! Flippers should not be allowed."

1200m that shouldn't extend them too much, nice warm up swim.

stkildafc St Kilda FC
Congrats to @Brett_Peake for being the first Saint past the post in a time of 19m 44 secs, ahead of Jamie Cripps and Sean Dempster....

and pretty orange flippers they were- must have been a bulk purchase
and they may have had to search long and hard for Kosi's yellow flippers.

Just had a swim in the bay an hour ago.
Water is very dirty - almost zero visibility and very rough.

Can just imagine Ross having his photo taken in his speedos

Saw another one of Scott standing with BJ both just wearing a towel.

The new attitude from the club is quite refreshing.

Just seems like a happier club. Not dissing Ross, i wished he stayed but just a more relaxed approach.

agreed, but it will be interesting to see how it evolves once they actually start playing games. it's pretty tough to keep your relaxed approach if the team isn't winning, so the first five rounds will be key in ensuring that the players have confidence in scotty's style. otherwise it could all turn to s*** fast.

I went down to have a look as it's a short drive there....got there a little late as there was a lot of drama across the road from the Royal Hotel...I saw ambos and police on the beach...Unfortunately a diver had died there...

Didn't count how many Saints players were there but apart from Riewoldt I assume the rest were....

A few didn't do the swim...Jackson Ferguson...Sam Crocker...Nick Winmar and Nick Dal Santo...I had a very brief word with Dal and he showed me the scar on his hand which virtually goes from the knuckle to the wrist...he wasn't allowed to do the swim but he did say that he's a couple of weeks away from full training...

Saw a few of the coaching team there...couldn't spot Hammill...Troy Schwarze was there but didn't do the swim...

A lot of media there...the group on a whole was fairly quiet but the joker of the group was Stephen Milne...I took a heap of photos but I'm buggered if I can work out how to post them...I follow the img button instructions but it just won't work...if anyone has any clues message me and I'll see if I can get them posted

you need to upload the photos to somewhere on the net fromn your computer
like photobucket or tinypic
i use tinypic myself
http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload
everyone has their pref to image hosting sites

you just hit the browse button on that page and select your photo from the pc
change the size to the website/email or message board choice
then hit the upload
itll ask you to copy some words in a box so it knows youre not a 'bot'
when its done it'll give you the url with the image tag around it already from memory
you just cut n paste that in a thread here
hope that helps
someone might have a quicker way with another image hosting site, nbut ive never had a prob with tinypic and dumbasses like me can use it :D

Saints participants were given permission to use flippers, although Clint Jones’s plans to use them were shattered at the starting line as his left flipper snapped in half.

As they set off, it was pre-race Saints favourite Brett Peake who set the pace ahead of Sam Gilbert and Sean Dempster.

Peake, who is at home in the water, led from start to finish crossing the line in 19minutes 44seconds. Jamie Cripps finished 2nd in a time of 21:04, only one second ahead of Sean Dempster.
