Even with what we know now, I would have much prefered him to Lovett!

Can't believe everyone is more concerned about him now he has checked into rehab?

Seriously, why is the media still harping on about this bloke. Playing for Richmond, oh please. The worse comeback ever. Just let this guy carry on with life and forget about him. What does society expect from a sport full of young jocks with "fame" and loads of cash?

I don't know why this forum is harping on about him. This thread belongs in another forum.

Because it's topical and because he nearly played for us at a time when we could have, and probably should have, won a premiership.
Totally agree that he would have been a far better prospect than naffer Lovett. Geelong had passed on him the year before, and no-one, not even Sheedy at GWS (who gave him a glowing reference to our recruiters in 2009) wanted him at a bargain basement draft pick gives us an idea of his reputation.
But I think that some of the posters here are inferring that had we picked up Cousins all this recent drug activity would have been linked to the club through the media - and they're right, they would have. And then we would have had another summer of Hinch and Andrew Fraser's articles on how our culture is totally corrupt. No, better to have passed I reckon in hindsight.
And yes, drug addiction is an illness, as is alcoholism, obesity and lung cancer. Who are we to judge?

Well we recruited Gardner who is almost as bad he's just a lot more private about it. Heck a lot of our star players hit the party drugs.
Big call. Are you sure? What star players? Whats your source? Jelly beans and Red lemonade or smack?

Well that is a pretty silly statement. Well the last part is anyway.

Silly why? Because it's true or because I said it on a public forum. I'm not naming names but I am telling it how it is. It looks like you don't know the players as well as you say.
I would suggest you are making it up. I seen or heard no evidence at all on that statement. It is big noting lies as far as I can see. I would suggest it would be the younger players if true any of them go out and if they do they arent going to take things in front of unknowns like yourself.

Well if you know because you are a mate of a player or players then you arent a mate otherwise I am guessing you wouldnt have a clue.

Anyhow I don't troll or lie on SS.

That's the last I'm saying on the issue.
Well whether you named names or not you said a lot of our star players are on drugs. That means to me that if we have 8-10 star players at least 4-5 are on drugs. A ridiculous call especially if you are a mate of a player.

Plenty of people become junkies in their 30s and clean up in their 40s.
Singers paul kelly and nick cave come to mind.

The issue is having an 'accident' and dying along the way. And the stress on the family everytime the phone rings thinking oh god I hope this isn't 'the call'.

Whether you are right or not, saying what you have is a pretty silly thing to do, if you are a Saints fan…

Everyone knows that media trawl through these forums, have a think before you post.

lol @ old mate, you can't delete your posts after others have quoted them :D

As for Cousins, and some around here wanted this junkie, who has had all the chances in the world, far more than many addicts, to get clean, to play football at our club

Haven't heard them about this, have gone all quiet.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I wanted him at the club big time and still believe it was a mistake to not pick him up.

Has Richmond been implicated in his newest issues? No.

So why would it look poorly on us?

Not really. All clubs go through nonsense however nothing the magnitude of photos and photos of willy's, pregnancy et al involving the captain of an AFL club.

I think the perception of "st Kilda culture" ensures the smallest indiscretion will be blown out of proportion by the media.
Having said that,I still can't think of an innocent explanation of nude photo scandal.

The only things cousins did at Richmond was pull a couple of hamstrings.

And drugs are prevalent more than people think. I would say Dale Lewis was a lot closer to the mark with his statement a while ago than most people think. It's freightening.

He copped way more attention compared to what he would have playing with us.

Same principle of a good player in a bad team getting attention and subsequently his numbers being lower. In a better team less attention therefore better numbers.
