Forum upgrade
As you have probably noticed, the forum upgrade has happened
We are now running on the newest version of the phpBB forum software.
There are few things that need sorting out, such as the forum link (temporarily http://saintsational.dreamhosters.com until I can make arrangements to fix this) and a few images which I've noticed aren't loading.
If anyone has any questions about the new features of the forum software or finds any errors please make a post in this thread so I can look into it.
Thanks
And thank you to Mr Magic and all who donated to allow the forum to be running on this new server. We are currently in a trial period (until next Thursday) where I will monitor the amount of resources being used so we know which package we need to be paying for.

Re: Forum upgrade
Under "User Control Panel -> Board Preferences -> My board style" you can pick other colour schemes. At the moment there is only red (the default) and a blue/white scheme (called "prosilver") which you might want to try if you would like a different contrast There will be more in the near future.
I made the old forum inactive just a few minutes ago (it is locked). I believe only 2.5 days of posts were lost.

The upgrade reminded me that I had not yet donated. $50.00 has just been transferred to your bank account MM.

Re: Forum upgrade
Thanks for the upgrade.
When deciding what resources are requiredd PLEASE take into account that this is the off-off season - the slowest time and that thhings will hot up here soon!
As stated before - if it is a question of money to get EVEN MORE than you think we need - just ASK and the money will be supplied.
What we NEVER want to happen again is for the forum to go down or be hacked.
If it costs $s then there are some individuals here (regular posters) who are more than happy (in fact delighted) to pay.

Re: Forum upgrade
I did not donate, as there was no assurance that any individual's view would be taken into account.
Therefore I have no right to comment on the changes, and am quite happy to leave it like that.

Re: Forum upgrade
Thanks Battye for the hard work it would have taken to transfer everything over to this new forum.
Your can please some of the people most of the time and to the others I say "bad luck, just deal with it"
New website, new season, new coach, new year of hope and optimism.

Re: Forum upgrade
I hope this is the right place for suggestions.
Is it possible to like or dislike posts, so you don't always have to reply?
Instead of the +1 scenario, you can just flag that you like someones comment?

Re: Forum upgrade
Just wondering if there is a way to hide stickies, have them at the bottom of the page or have them bunched into flip down menu or something?
If not could we look at reducing the amount perhaps, 99% of the time when I (& probably most) load the forum page, I am looking for the newest posts/threads,
The top 8 topics are stickies which although some are important, most of them I won't need to go into very often at all… there are 2 sponsorship group stickies, the guidelines, post of the year and the free stickers threads are not ones you will need to read often, yet are always at the top of the page… even the membership & donation threads, once you have that sorted you will never need to go into those…

Re: Forum upgrade
Great work as always battye.
Not a fan of the two colour schemes but I have faith this issue will be resolved in time. So used to the old style that I grew quite fond of it.
Looking forward to other options coming along.
