Because he is no good.
Lyon screamed out for players to step up and demand a spot last year. Walsh wasn't able too. He got 6 handpass Joe the Goose goals over the top in the VFL against Collingwood, and half of you hailed the second coming of Lockett.
Let's bump this thread in October when Tommy is back in Ireland back playing a game he's good at....Nimbat

how many AFL games has he played? 0. How many NAB pre season games that nobody could give a flying fcuk about has he played? 1? maybe even 2 i dont know.
How do you know he will be back in Ireland at the end of the year? or are you just one of those one eyed saints fans who cant accept the fact we stuffed up yet again. He is a quality player, nothing less. I couldnt care less if we got 2 4 6 or 80 draft picks for him. we lost a quality future leader.

Longmire made it very clear in the pregame interview he is a project, and will take time.

Ive made up my own word. Footy Nimbat: Someone who thinks he understands the game of Football but doesnt understand the basic fundamentals. Also has outrageous thoughts and ideas that just dont work.

Re: Tommy Walsh...
it just showed how far he has to go ... he was not in any way shape or form a player tonight ... lots of people on here built him up to be some super human super star the fact is he himself prob over rated himself i truely belive he is a Looooong way off making any impact if ever the fact he was so over hyped really worked in our favour when you think about the picks we got for him ... he may turn out to be a good player eventually but i personally think the swans know how far back he actually is and he will spend more time in the ressies .. the question is does he stick with it and develop more or does he think he is being hard done by again and head back to ireland ... time will tell

Re: Tommy Walsh...
i dunno i reckon he will chuck the s***s if he doesnt get games at the swans ... the problem i hear is Tommy believed all the hype about himself and felt he was being held back unfairly Money was a factor but he had the sooks on about not getting a game big time

Re: Tommy Walsh...
We f***ed up, end of story, we had a player on our list who was worth more than what we got for him.
He had earned games (IMHO of course) but he still didn't get his opportunity.
The only way we can come out on top is if he stagnates very badly.

See this is the issue. People blame Lyon for not giving him a game but how many times did you watch him at Sandringham to have the opinion he 'earnt' games.
Did he show glimpses? Yes. Did he play forward a whole lot in the VFL? No.
It's not as clear cut as being held back. I never thought he def should be playin seniors. Although I wanted him to play because of his potential.
Tonight was expected of him. Will take another two years. But he never def earnt a game at St Kilda.
