Football myths and jargon
I love hearing all the players and coaches trot out the same rubbish every week....
We need to win the 'contested ball'
We need to win the 'tackle count'
We need more F50 entries
Anyone would think those areas would guarantee a win then.....well obviously not..
We won all of those areas I believe???
Structure, ball movement, efficiency.........every bit as important

Re: Football myths and jargon
Clearly the thing we lost when RL left was a "thirst for the contest"
"Competive Beasts" is one I'd like rolled out a bit more. I'd also like to see "hunting" used a bit more and "hard at it" could do with some brushing up.

Re: Football myths and jargon
Agreed, efficient ball use is equally as important and it's damning for us.
But Freo losing the clearances, tackles, contested possessions and inside 50s is just as damning for them. West Coast or Hawthorn would have ripped them to shreds. Those stats are exactly what Lyon prides a footy team on and once the emotion of vindicating his reason leaves settles, he'll have plenty to worry about.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

From where I was sitting our main issue was our finishing.BigMart wrote:I love hearing all the players and coaches trot out the same rubbish every week....

We ticked every other box just about imo.
If we had of hit our targets we'd of won well.

Re: Football myths and jargon
When you have more tackles, win the contested ball as well as clearances, it usually means that you have a "thirst for the contest". The issue was our finishing and our skills as Bigmart has said.

add to all of that a good strategy, game plan and a quick thinking coaching staff.BigMart wrote:I love hearing all the players and coaches trot out the same rubbish every week....

Re: Football myths and jargon
This... Ross Lyon has got a job and a half to do calming the dockers down this week they got the win this week but play and allow the opporsition to play like they did last night they will com crashing back to earth quick smart ... Ross would be thinking this was a game they were lucky to pull a victory from the rest of the dockers will be busy congratulating themselves for being awesome ... I expect Carlton to smack them back down a fair bit next week.... For us we are lucky we have got the Dee's to take the medias eye off us for a lil bit longer.. But the scrutiny is coming for us soonSydneySainter wrote:Agreed, efficient ball use is equally as important and it's damning for us.

Win the tackles and contested ball... Win the game... Regardless of style
Re: Football myths and jargon
Embarrassing. There will a reason though. Footy has changed since that first post. And did you know BJ in 9/10 was as good as harvs in 01/02 and Plugger in 91/92.
Re: Football myths and jargon
Nothing better to do??
Seriously, you have issues... You are obsessed and are embarrassing yourself.
Go and spend some time with your wife, oh, I forgot... She couldn't compete with SS, or your stalking of someone else...
BTW
In context
What I was saying... Was I was sick of hearing it in every interview..... And was reacting angrily after a loss to Freo...
High Emotions from a supporter, saints supporter none the less... What a revelation you have uncovered.
I can pull up more posts than that one from myself... Made in the heat of supporting footy, that were off the mark?
But I unlike don't have the time for rubbish.... Better things to do...
Like Lyon, you possibly have never made an error.... Nor has an umpire, or the tribunal or Adrian Anderson or Demetriou or or recruiting dept.... In fact only I have made poor calls...
What about things I may have got right, ever like to acknowledge that.
You're a sad tool

Bringing up the ex wife again. I like it. maybe I should bring up your lack of friends which is pretty obvious. Havent got time for this but nearly writes a book. You really are funny. And why do you lie all the time. Very sad for a teacher. No wonder Sippos dad thought you were a wanker. Things you got right. I do all the time. At least it saves on typing.

Re: Football myths and jargon
Pretty much all football commentry is cliche these days because the media organisations pay people to commentate who once played and in most cases have not much else except a recognisable face rather than professional commentators.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Furthermore anybody who expresses an "out there" opinion that does not conform to the norm (GT &Aker) is demonised by the popular media.

3 peas in a pod. I would be more upset if you respected my footy ideas. Then I would know I was completely on the wrong track. By the way Stinger if you have me on foe how did you know he was writing about me. I will tell you why. You either turn it off to see what is written about you or dont even use it.
