You can listen to Bristle tell you Carlton are still a massive chance at 28 points down with two minutes to go, you can listen to him tell you all about Lorne, or you can watch a monkey on a pushbike...I know which I prefer...

Re: Game Thread vs Carlton.
Sincerely thanks for the best wishes all. Didn't want to hijack the thread but this was a big day for me and to get good news was a relief I had to share. Then to tune into Sainitational and get more great news about us beating the odds and kicking my most hated team down a few pegs, it's the perfect day really.

What else do you expect from that mega-knob and his apprentice Luke "Blue steel" Darcy? Two of the greatest flogs who have ever been allowed to comment on football.felix wrote:Worst commentary ever by BT and co

Re: Game Thread vs Carlton.
Oh yeah, and I remember also from last week's coverage, BT repeatedly having a lend of Richo for suggesting early on that he'd like to see Rioli in the middle of the ground. King of the cheap shots, Brian Taylor.
I appreciate that he gives colour to the commentary, but how about someone with a grain of class or intelligence as well? I'd settle for at least one. Usually with commentary teams you get:
1x Pro broadcaster who can talk well and can call the play with or without emotion; Cometti, MacAvaney, Lane, Hudson, Quarters, McGuire, White(?) etc
1x Old Ex-player of varying intelligence and understanding of the game to give colour or technical insight; Matthews, Brereton, Alves, Malthouse, Frawely, Blight, Shaw, Newman, Walls, etc
1x Recently retired ex-players with limited broadcasting capability but supposed technical understanding of the modern game to chime in now and again with insights and player/club knowledge; Johnson, Darcy, Harley, Schwartz, King, Schwass, etc
1x Boundary rider who is as above, but with less broadcasting ability; Ling, Richardson, etc
Sometimes they try and skimp on costs by combining the first two and getting a really rabid ex-player who's not that smart but can talk the arse off a donkey; Rexy, BT, Russell etc. It usually results in substandard and painfully biased broadcasting. I think you need someone who is not just there cos they once played the game. I want AFL Life to have a Suppress Commentary option, just the crowd noise.
