The Leaving of Moorabbin- Article- IF

If the opponents of the St Kilda Football Club were genuinely "community minded" they would be in favour of minor renovations that could turn this into an asset. Surely it could have been used for some community group for meetings, but no, Kingston Council will run the bulldozer through a perfectly sound building and use the area to extend a car park that is never full.Somehow this little aspect of the tale encapsulates the whole Moorabbin story.
It's about to become a monument to the selfishness of a group of pretend greenies.

Good article but I feel he is a bit easy on Archie Fraser.
Fraser needed to take on the Greenies and win the battle.
Unfortunately the club and all supporters are going to pay the price for ever because of his failure to continue the fight against a small minority.

How much more could we afford to spend on a "Moving Target"? It was costing the club a fotune to have plans drawn up only to have the council change its mind at the last minute. Archie Fraser, like all St Kilda people were held to ransom on multiple occasions by a minority group, and will cost the club for years.

The bottom line is; WE NEEDED THE COUNCIL- THEY DIDN'T NEED (OR WANT) StKFC !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

in the midst of the years when negotiations where being held I happened to check out the Kinsgton Councils grand plans and reports etc-
there was NO mention of having a major sporting organisation within the council boundaries, walking paths , beaches, open spaces But No mention of St Kilda.

on the flip side as you drive the Nepean highway or enter the precinct of Frankston- you are greeted with- Welcome to the Home of St Kilda Football Club.

Perhaps the saddest and most stupid chapter in our history!

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

If we didn't have that lease for 50 years , the council would have pissed us off years ago .
Kingston council is full of knob jockeys . They keep wasting money on detailed proposals for " futuring planning " pie in the sky ideas that will never see the light of day .
A couple of things there doing at the moment , down on the aspendale beach their doing sand renourishment ! WTF is that ? apart from expensive , also in one of the old council owned buildings their spending $120000 putting a toliet in that meets all the ohs standards , this sounds reasonible however as this toliet will be used on average maybe once a week , the cost does seem a little high !

Id love to know more on the reasons behyind us moving from Frankston Oval to Seaford

There was a airy fairy "price of steel rose" reason given, plus the buring down of their grandstand..but seems more that the sums were redone and we just couldnt afford what we originally planned

Maybe ground size as well. Isnt Frankston a pretty small ground?

Probably cost factor.

Seems like we got cheap 'n nasty at Seaford.

Yes and the surface is no where near as good as seaford !
Also with all the closed training sessions they have nowdays its probably easier to spot spies .

major sewerage line across the centre ?

and the grandstand going down wasn't good for us- despite rumours to the contrary- heritage tag meant new building was always going to need to comply

anyone who has sat in the stand will find that no matter where you sit there is a Pole in the road meaning you can't get full ground vision.
