The final eight
I think we are an even money chance to make the 8. 13 wins will definitely get us a gig. 12 might as well with a good percentage but I wouldn't count on it.
Frankly, I can't see why we shouldn't be thinking that we can win all six games as we have been around the mark. Pies and Cats are not playing that well.
I think North are now certainties.
The bombers are now vulnerable and have to win two more games to clinch a spot. As far as I see it, they have two winable games against the tigers and blues.
Regardless, of what happens, the last team want to see make the eight is Fremantle. They would add nothing to the finals atmosphere in Melbourne and in fact I claim that they would detract from it. I'd like to see them just miss out and I would like to see Ross suffer in his jocks. I accept he was a great coach for us and he was a free agent blah blah blah but some karma would still be good...

Re: The final eight
For all that everyone was claiming it's an even year, it always seemed 7 spots were claimed and locked in a while ago. The only thing changing was which teams were hunting that final spot. It now seems north most likely of those clubs, but low and behold Essendon look like they may be willing to allow another team in. We need to take the opportunity in both hands and put some wins together.

Re: The final eight
That North loss is really gonna kill our chances this year, I fear. I think we will win 4, Freo 3 and North 4. Ess probably 3 but maybe two. In any case unless we can beat Coll and Geel (and Carl) we will finish 9th. If the boys can get up over one of these two - then we sneak back into the 8 unless Freo win some big games eg: westcoast.
This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Not looking likely huhchook23 wrote:go crows just as important........SainterK wrote:Go Dees
cats win today again after their win last is really bad for us as I mentioned last week.
Edit - hold that thought
Re: The final eight
Pretty much agree. North can go as high as 6th and probably will with their draw. Bombers extremely vulnerable and Cats have a tough run and must wibm today. 13 wins will see us definitely make it.

Re: The final eight
SaintPav says he doesn't want Freo in the finals. I heartily agree. Any final they play in Melb will have a very small crowd, regardless of who they play.
And yes, be good to see Ross miss out on the finals.
I don't believe we can sneak in, can't see us beating the Filth, they will study our games against Essendon and North, to assess exactly how to play us and what our strenghts are. Do they still have Maxie on their coaching panel? He will remind them how to stitch up our captain.

Max is now with us.
We can beat the Pies and Cats IMO. Win one of those then we're looking good for the finals.

No arguments about the form they are currently in.Cairnsman wrote:Hawks look like they should win the lot this year. Then there is daylight.
While they may not be able to be beaten easily, certainly will be easier to plan against when Buddy returns, he demands a heap of the delivery and at the moment they are just so unpredictable.

Re: The final eight
The only thing going for us at the moment is percentage. It is worth a game for us. We need to keep that up with a good win against the doggies and then a ginormous win against West Sydney.
I also think it's about time we stopped rolling over against those two scum teams that beat us in the two grand finals. Take it up to them saints and beat the living suitcases out of them.
The thing that will probably kill our chances however is if any one of the sides around us (or us) has a draw as then our percentage won't count.

Pies next week, then Demons then Cats. Carlton is last round (after GWS )philtee wrote:Must beat Collingwood next round or Geelong in the last round. Preferably both.
