ST KILDA played Fitzroy in their last home game at Moorabbin - 1992.

Yes I was there and I think on Youtube there is the Channel 9 report with Ann Maree Sparkman and Deedee singing a song about Waverley to the tune of "Let it be"

I can't believe it's twenty years since we left Moorabbin.

Can we please go back there one day?

I was there and like most people I ran out on to the ground after the final siren. It was an end of an era and seems like such a long time ago. I used to love driving down the Napean in my skyline puffing a smoke.

My sisters (yes thats you Janet/Helen) removed the point post and tried valiantly to get it home....threw it over the fence only to be picked up by security and baked (not arrested) for their potential prize.

Yes we were there. I recall receiving a certificate type paper
with " I was at the last game played at Moorabbin " & we
only had to add our names to it. Felt sad & proud at the same time.

Just found that sheet then. Signed by Danny Frawley, Ken Sheldon, Tony Lockett and Travis Payze.

I was there too and I remember the umpiring was shocking on that day! Haha Some things never change!

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

I was there too, along with my Gran, Mum and my son, felt quiet sad as this is where I started watching my beloved Saints from being a member of the cheer squad to standing in the animal cage, oh the many memories of Moorabbin.

I must admit I missed that last game but I did see Plugger boot 12 against the Bears in 1992. The worst thing Doc is that I was there for the FIRST game in '65 - That is just plain old! By the way, we beat the Filth that day 8.12 to 8.6 thanks to an Alan Morrow goal in time on. An omen for Saturday perhaps? :o

I was there and my car broke down on the way home ( after a few beers at the McKinnon pub.)

Alan is making a comeback? I actually saw him walking to the ground for our most recent game at the MCG. His gait hasn't changed that much over the years.

I too was there in '65 and '92.

I nicked a chunk of turf from the South road end goalsquare.

That chunk of turf is now about ten square meters of lovely back lawn at the olds house.

Unfortunately I over indulged as a teenager getting on the booze with a little less experience and can't remember much except the guys at work laughing at me for a few weeks afterwards. But I guess I had a really great night?

That was the end of what was great about football for me .
The suburban ground where so many good times were had , even though we lost more than we won .
You would sometimes go to training and have a meal as well in the social club, saturdays you would get to see at least the last half of the reserves , so you were familiar with the whole team . There's was so much more warmth and colour around , you felt part of the club .
Superdogs , pies that would burn your mouth , peanuts , collecting cans to cash in at the ground , then as i got older drinking cans to give the next kid coming along the chance to cash them in , trying to hit one of the cheersquard with a coin as they carried the blanket around . I could go on all day !
F@#$ Me , I'm starting to get depressed !
Modern stadiums whilst better in so many ways , really have no soul , there just venues for getting as much money out of you as they can !
I carn't help feel that we should still be training there in a high tech facility , however i do realise the life is forever evolving and you gotta keep moving forward .

Even Waverley had soul. My memories from Moorabin are all colourful and hectic. Walking through chaotic crowds into the light from under the tunnels through the main stand and hitting the cold wind standing in rubbish and mud. The loud guys swearing, drunks, the jokers, duffle jackets, reprobates a lower class of society still able to attend. Geelong was the last bastion of the old world left and it's on it's way out now. Sanitised footy isn't the same.

I ate a lot more super-dogs than I saw wins there, that is for sure.

I was there. The "20" is clipped out on the 1992 member's card for round 20.
The card says we had another home game the week after, but it was at "(P) AFL Park".

I've still got the dirt I scraped from the animal pit - now in a sacred urn.
Also souvenired a patch of turf (along with a thousand others)

I remember walking around the ground with one of my friends from Bay 7 in the dark and in silence...acutely felt the end of something important in our lives. I still have the program from that game...has Gilbert McAdam, Nicky Winmar and Derek Kickett on the cover.
