Leave Brendan Alone I say
I have read some utter BS about Brendan Goddard on this site and about how he is going to cop it when we play the Bombers. The guy was entitled to do what he did end of story. He was a free agent. Welcome to the new world of the AFL. His departure hurt us and there will be many more like him- star players I am talking about- from other clubs who will cause similar pain I am sure. The deed is done... he is gone and out of respect for him and his service to the Saints I wish him well but not too well when he plays us. So, I say let's get our priorities right and look forward not back. We've got some salary cap room and a first round draft pick to play with. Now is the time for our football brains trust to show us what they are made of and get us some good players to replace him. Players that are going to give us great service and fill the holes we so desperately need filled. This is a great test for Pelchen and Watters and I am watching with interest.
Re: Leave Brendan Alone I say
yeah...OK...that will work....
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

LOL
Good luck. He will get abused. Not by me. But we have our fair share. Just like all other clubs. He decided to leave. Most of our other guns decided to stay. I wont abuse him but many will.

Re: Leave Brendan Alone I say
I don't wish him well. He's playing for the Bombers. I don't wish him to be injured, but I hope he doesn't play well for them. Why would any Saints supporter?
I wouldn't boo him, but I would enjoy his brain fade-outs, and general surliness. Tolerated his recent lack of form, and his moments....but he was a Saint then.

Gave his all, especially when it counted.
Did everything right by the Saints and left because he got a better deal.
Fair enough I say.

Re: Leave Brendan Alone I say
Would be nice to think this is the last Goddard thread.
Anyway, I'm over it.
Want to move on.
Good luck to him. Break a leg, BJ! ...Literally

With all due respect SS. If we are ok to lose BJ under those circumstances, you would have also been ok with players like Barker, Loewe, Riewoldt, Harvey, Lenny, Dal or any other of our champs departing because they got a "better deal".SydneySainter wrote:Gave his all, especially when it counted.

Most of the above mentioned have been offered bigger $'s but never left. They are all Saints legends. BJ will never be.

Abused and boos.
He is a judas, many before him have refused big offers and not just players from the saints. I believe it is a certain personality that 'takes the money' and BJ fit the bill. It didn't surprise me though. He strikes me as that kind of person.
To wish him all the best is laughable.
He is the enemy and will be treated as such.

OK, we'll leave him alone.
Now what should we do about that Brendon fella?

great servant of the St Kilda Football Club. He fell into our laps in the first place and may be the gift that keeps on giving if Caddy works out. This is probably going to be a win-win deal for both parties. I wish him all the best although hope he plays no more than 99 games for the Bombers.

Agreed. Had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago at a Western Saints function...a quality young man.doggerel wrote:great servant of the St Kilda Football Club. I am disappointed that he will not remain at the Saints and become our next 300 game player, but he did give his all while he was with us and I will always hold him, and the rest of the playing list, in the highest regard for what they almost achieved in 2009 & 2010.

Re: Leave Brendan Alone I say
Time to act with a wee bit of class and maturity folks. We don't have to LIKE BJ leaving us, but as has been said He gave us ten years of service and that should be recognised and respected. I will not boo him as a Bomber, (I'm a wee bit old fashioned I guess but prefer to CHEER MY OWN than waste energy on the opposittion!) but treat him as another player.
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

Re: Leave Brendan Alone I say
Exactly, not only that he joined Essendon, not exactly one of my favourite teams. He's not one of us any more, so I will treat him the way I would treat any Essendon slug.8856brother wrote:With all due respect SS. Re: Leave Brendan Alone I say
I just hope to see him gesturing like a nuffie when he gets tagged out of a game by CJ and watch him go off his nut at some of those half arsed ponces that don't do much at essendon. I won't need to boo at that point I'll be full to the brim with schadenfreuder.

I will abuse him, just for a laugh, he won't hear me from level 3 sitting with the scum that "every club" has. I'll keep it "G" rated don't worry. It's tradition...
STRENGTH THROUGH LOYALTY...
You lied to us BJ...You broke my heart...You broke my heart...
I hope he enjoys himself at Rooey's wedding...hopefully he goes on a little fishing trip and has a little accident or something...or maybe he accidentally falls down a flight of stairs...

This site is full of the most bitter people in Australia. Good luck in trying to get them to wish Goddard well.

We should do what the Melb supporters did to Scully and wave money or cheque books at him.

It is the Aussie way. It's not true hatred or bitterness, just the way the tradition works. If you didn't boo him others might think leaving looks ok. It's all fun, do you think it will upset him. He will lift probably but I will still amuse myself with jeering him.
Re: Leave Brendan Alone I say
Why wish him well? F*ck him, just another scum opposition player.Saintersss wrote:This site is full of the most bitter people in Australia. Good luck in trying to get them to wish Goddard well.
Dont get me wrong, I would have done exactly the same thing - take the money and run. He owed the STKFC nothing. As i have always said loyalty is for the fans,
So as a loyal Saintsa fan - F##K you Judas, with your 30 pieces of silver. Hope the rest of your football career is s.hit of the highest order.

That sounds classier than me sitting behind the goal and slapping his head with a footy sock filled with s*** when he runs past. Which I heard was a fair punishment dealt out by Eastern European soccer fans when the went off someone. Sometimes you just have to think outside the square and that's up there with the most creative.
