Re: Pick 13 for Goddard
OK - now that we know what we've got, we can start to do something. Be interesting to see how much of the action happens next Monday and Friday now, as the clubs spend the weekend plotting their moves then try and make them happen before they miss out, and then try and rush a last minute deal through on Friday after they were too slow on the Monday.....

If free agency did not exist and Essendon tried trading us only for pick 13 no way would that trade happen.

St Kilda defender Raphael Clarke, an unrestricted free agent who had attracted some interest during free agency, also remained unsigned as the 5pm cut-off passed on Friday with little fanfare.

When you look at the compo others got we cleaned up. Young for a third rounder- premiership player, has had a couple of quietish years like Goddard. Ouch

The equivalent of us getting a pick in the mid second round for goddard. We would have cracked the s***s big time. It apparently depends on ladder position so we may have been lucky to have a s*** year. Finishing in the 8 but losing goddard for a second rounder would have hurt. I think we got overs as it was the first high profile trade done under the new system. Don't want anyone else to walk next year.

Re: Pick 13 for Goddard
The decision was pretty consistent with the announced guidelines/factors. Highly paid player, good overall b&f record etc.gringo wrote:Hemi Baxter wrote:Richly desrved.St Ick wrote:Geez Hawks got f'd over didnt they?! Lose Murphy and Young and gain just pick 66... ouch!

It's only been 2 weeks? The club has also been waiting 2 weeks - for the AFL to hand us our compensation! Now we know what we have to play with....Bowey Boy wrote:Been waiting three weeks.saint6709 wrote:Prepare for the pelican to swoop

Re: Pick 13 for Goddard
We didn't know if we had pick 34, 35, 36 or 37 for example....now we do. It's not just our first pick we needed confirmation on.
Re: Pick 13 for Goddard
What a sock getting pick 13. As if the club didnt know but apparently it effected our trading.

Something has affected it...plugger66 wrote:What a sock getting pick 13. As if the club didnt know but apparently it effected our trading.
Unless they aren't trading...maybe it's all a smokescreen to get Bower after the trade period as our backline general
Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.
