I would have thought we recruited Lee and Hickey to play round one. Hickey is in his 3rd year next year snd we used pick 13 on him so i would hope he can play round one. Lee is out of the WAFL and we used pick 12 on him. He is 21 years old. Has to be ready or it is a wasted pick. One thing i do know is if Hickey plays it cant be on the bench. You do not have ruckmen on the bench these days. Even after reading the suggested forward line I struggle to see how they all fit assuming the recruited guys are ready to go which I would hope they are.

2015 (post-Riewoldt) side would be gearing towards something like this assuming we do snare Mitch Brown.

B: Dempster (31), Brown (26), Geary (27)
HB: Gilbert (29), Simpkin (25), Siposs (22)
C: Montagna (31), Armitage (27), Newnes (22)
HF: Markworth (22), Stanley (24), Dunell (25)
F: Saad (26), Lee (24), Hickey (24)

Foll: McEvoy (26), Dal Santo (31), Steven (25)

Int from: Gwilt (29), Ross (22), Ledger (23), Milera (27), Ferguson (23), Curren (23), Wilkes (29), Ray (29)
[/quote]

Also Tom 'Pammy' Lee (24) and Ahmed 'the pharoah' Saad (25) in that mix.

Armitage and Steven should be in career best form at this stage and haven taken the no. 1 & 2 best midfielders mantle. We'll need more midfielders coming through to help them out....

Well with Macca, Stan & Roo at least 1 will be injured each week given recent form.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

If they come good at 22 or 23, I doubt anyone will lament their progress. Plenty of mature recruits don't come straight in. Saad didn't. Clint Jones didn't. Sam Fisher didn't. Both Hickey and Lee are big men and there's competition for spots. I would expect the senior guys to be given first crack unless the young guys dominate in preseason. If we play well, they might not get a crack, like Armo in 09. If we struggle, I'd expect them to be getting games by the end of the year, particularly if we're out of finals contention.

Kosi won't get first crack at round one because his form doesn't deserve it and because we gave up our first pick to get a ready made key forward.

Kosi wasn't even given a shot with Roo out at the end of the season. It's not that hard to understand what is going on.
