I heard Greg Denham on SEN this morning say that he KNEW that Goddard, as part of his negotiations with St Kilda demanded that he be the HIGHEST PAID player at the club this year as part of the 4 year deal he was seeking. Denham concluded that Goddard left PURELY FOR THE MONEY !!

+100, I think on the back of 2010 someones ego has been blown way out of proportion, If he really thinks he deserves more than Riewoldt and co, im more than happy to see him in an Essendon jumper.

What's Kosi going to do about it? Knock himself out on the goal post? Im sure the players would still be mates with BJ. No point living in the past. They are all seasoned pros.

The way I see it Pelchen adopted a 2 step program when he arrived.

1. Make sure we dont fall too low by getting some mid aged players on the list (Maister, Milera, Saad, Dunell, Hickey, Lee, Roberton) - TICK
2. Start the rebuild with youth - We have started well but expect this to take 3 years.

So paying big bucks for BJ didn't fit in with either 1 or 2 - so he wasnt prepared to to do it. I see it as a win/win for both parties. BJ gets his $$$. We stick to our plan.

Im not saying he isnt honest. Dont know the guy at all but he gets plenty wrong when he says he is 100% right. I think his contacts sometimes struggle.

Goddard was making noises that suggested he was going to leave not long after GF2. It is a fact that he wanted to leave the club and it wasn't just the money. He wanted a premiership and he wanted to play in the middle more.

Who cares, he's gone, and whilst I regret he chose to take the money above everything else, that's his problem and let's hope by the end of this season he'll be without a lot of his teamates and coaching staff, because just like they'd lied about Lovett, they lied to him.

I haven't asked that question but I reckon technically Watters reports to Pelchen. I'd be surprised if he talked to Nettlefold every day but I'm sure he talks to Pelchen frequently.
