Watters labels Sydneys defenders tactics Interesting
In todays HUN Watters labelled the Sydney defenders blocking tactics as " INTERESTING" the HUN also stating he was frustrated with their tactics. Yet I look at the frees for our two key forwards and they got one between them that was a chopped arm free to Roo on the wing.
Where is the protection for our forwrads. The Swans defenders continually held and blocked our forwards up to 50 metres off the ball. Please Scott ask Geishen what the f*** is going on.

Re: Watters labels Sydneys defenders tactics Interesting
I was curious why our forwards were being blocked off the contest way before the ball got there, and umpires were doing nothing- maybe that's what SW is talking about?

Re: Watters labels Sydneys defenders tactics Interesting
Has the Sydney "Blocking" tactic evolved from the "Tunnelling" tactic that they used a few years ago? It appears that they have done their research on how to "Bend" the rules as far as you can. Should we adopt a policy of "If you can't beat em- Join em"? !!

Given how the men in " Green " have slaughtered us in 3 games , would very much doubt we get away with any tactic this year.
Especially when they are inconsistent , very clear on who the umpires see as finalists this year, as blantant not only our games but all games in years.

Blocking ahead of the ball was not as clear on TV as it must have been at the game (but not mentioned on TV). It's very interesting that Watters has commented publicly on this.
If it was a clear Swans tactic, why wasn't something done at half-time to counter it?

You can come up with a tactic to beat cheating. What you need is the umpire to pay a free kick when the defender breaks the rules. What can Watters instruct his forwards to do other then drive a knee into there back or throw them to the ground which would defanatley be a free against.

Its against the rules it would be similar to telling defenders to just punch the forward in the back of the head as hard as you can.

youre missing the point - the coach's job is to work out ways to beat
opposition tactics no matter who we play- it is irrelevant there legal or not. he has to
deal with the cards dealt.

Lance or James??

Re: Watters labels Sydneys defenders tactics Interesting
I feel we have been shafted by the umpires in a majority of matches this season and maybe the club should seek clarification about where we are going wrong.
