Ray is a perfect GOP...
He turns it over sometimes (not that much) but hes great overhead and is a good link up...
McEvoy will get monstered in the ruck by Minson, Hickey is a must...

Ray just needs to be consistent- some weeks good, other weeks ordinary- same as a lot of our medium size running players. I would like to see him getting more goals on the run, but it depends where SW plays him.

Re: Round 9 Teams - St Kilda v Western Bulldogs
i cant believe the calls for Hickey to be dropped ... honestly this guy needs to get as many games into him as possible.. he cost us a fair bit draft pick wise and we have put a lot of hope and faith in him becoming a player for us ... so dropping him after a so-so game at this stage is not what i would be doing ...
love that Lenny is back !! and think its spot on that Milera gets dropped he is not doing the team thing often enough so i think a spell is fair ...
shame that for indigenous round we wont have an indigenous player out there but at the same time i dont think giving a player a game based on his race is in the spirt of the round either ..

Re: Round 9 Teams - St Kilda v Western Bulldogs
Ray is a limited player and in the last two rounds he's missed crucial shots on the run which are a classic example of why I wouldn't be persevering with him, he's peaked and is now taking the place of a younger player IMO. There was an interesting thread posted elsewhere that commented on the benefit of bringing young mids in through development phase as forward pocket players ala how jack Steven was developed and many others elsewhere. Seems we are too top heavy with specialist small forwards, none of whom are setting the world on fire limiting our really promising group of next generation mids and flankers (and who knows, one or more could develop not excellent pocket players). My current list of mids/flankers who look like makin up a core of next gen players include seb Ross, newnes, wright, Murdoch, Webster, curren, dunell. Saunders. We seem to be limiting them to back pocket duties, would love to see them spend some time up forward, they all look to have pace and good foot skills. Thoughts...
