No, not really. The story is who we pick up with our first round pick. We haven't had the opportunity pick an "A Grader" for some time.

We've gotten good value in the latter rounds with our current recruiting team.

due to salary cap issues...

Nup the money Isreal Folou received was outside the cap for marketing purposes. Only a percentage of his wage will come out of the salary cap.

Don't worry the AFL confirmed 2 other players have been paid that way to get them into a developing market both stolen from us--Lockett and Hall. Doesn't suck balls that we pay for Sydney to exist then they use our money to steal our player who aren't even under the same salary cap constraints. I think they must have this deal still going at the Swans with some current players.

a few i like the look of from the WA under 18s are ...
obviously Sheed
Clem Smith
Tom Barrass
Aliir Aliir
and Jon Marsh

Everyone knows how good Sheed is so no point going on about that

Clem Smith reminds me of Chris Yarren the way he streams out of defence but his foot skils are his big wrap .. I first spotted him at a his local club Thornlie playing 16's after the game where he destroyed his opponent he was mucking around kicking a footy 40m into a rubbish bin with his younger brother or cousin on the left on the right while being tackled ... i saw he had made the cut to the WA under 18s this year and i see he has been tearing it up ... only thing is i think he is too young to be drafted this year

Tom Barrass is a defender from Claremont colts is a key back player and is still growing is hard at it he is one of the old fashioned honest beat your opponent one on one style player can take a good mark and is pretty good kick .. from what i hear the kid is also a genius has a really high IQ and is also considered to be a strong leader

Aliir Aliir is pretty raw and will take some time but he is a super athelete runs as fast as a gazelle and has real courage - he has a great back story coming from Kenya as a refugee he plays well down back and is really good at spoiling the ball with his good leap

Jon Marsh is a goal machine marks just about everything that comes his way and slots them from everywhere .. against Vic Metro he kicked 3 goals against NT he kicked 4 and got one against Tassie ... be interesting to see how he go's against Vic Country tomorrow

I think our aim with our first pick should be to get a gun midfielder (ideally one who can step into the side and contribute straight away).

Cheers for this, I wish those two games were on a Saturday I probably would've gone - would actually prefer to watch that on TV over VFL and Foxtel cup too...

Anyway, just based on a hunch, despite his obvious class, Aish might slide a bit due to being underdone in the Champs.

Aish doesnt appear to living up to the lofty standards some pundits ascribe him to.

He may well get his wish and end up at Port or Adelaide if his low possession form continues

I heard it WAS on foxtel, oops. Already having next weeks games on record.

On Aish, I think he is just underdone, I doubt recruiters would be fooled by an avg championships.

I'm sure Scott from WA inc. will be very interested in some of those WA boys from the U18's.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Aish is the youngest person ever to play in a sanfl premiership. He has been playing sanfl seniors since 16yo.

He will be a star.

Personally I think we will go Scharenberg at pick 3, after GWS go Boyd and Melb go Aish.

A utility isn't quite what we need, but he is the best available at pick #3. having said that he could well end up like a Watson/Goddard/Kennedy who were all touted as key position players, but because they are so talented have been able to turn themselves into A Grade midfielders. Even a Ryan / Nat Fyfe type would be handy!

IMO Scharenberg will do his apprenticeship on a HB or HF flank and will then move into the midfield when ready.

I really don't want a swingman/half back flanker. If we can't somehow fluke Boyd, then it's Aish for me.

Everyone will be fairly surprised if Boyd Aish don't go 1 and 2..

I'm hoping his average U18's performance change that but yeah you're right. I still want an out and out midfielder though.

Aish has been injured all year and the championships are actually his first games for this season.

If GWS hold onto the #1 pick then I doubt they'll use it on Boyd given their current crop of tall forwards.
