Saints list or Freos
Seeing Lyon has the same game plan for Freo as he did the Saints, is Freos list better or the Saints better ( 09 10), include Pav Sandilands in the lists.

their's is probably slightly better.sippo wrote:Seeing Lyon has the same game plan for Freo as he did the Saints, is Freos list better or the Saints better ( 09 10), include Pav Sandilands in the lists.
however the element of surprise in the game plan is gone.
Win/loss ratio in home and away will still be good, but ultimate success will continue to evade him!

And that is based on what? if there list is better than ours at our best that suggests he must have coached pretty well in the 2 GFs. or maybe geelong and Collingwood werent very good either. That makes as much sense as freo will fail in the finals. So far he has coached 2 finals at Freo and they have one upset win and a pretty obvious loss.

Difficult but good question . Out top 8 in 09 was sensational . Much Better than freos .
But their list maybe is a bit more even. Overall I guess we will find out September . I reckon they will play a prelim but won't win a flag .

Have not got a player that can reach the heights of Riewoldt circa '09 in the semi/prelim finals...
Not sure a Mundy, Fyfe, Barlow can match Lenny's or BJ's output GF'10 either.. The top of our top end was higher than theirs is IMO..
Zac Dawson is the one common standard...

thanks for that...looks as though the expectations aren't what everyone expected and the stress is starting to show.

Re: Saints list or Freos
The Saints list and quite easily IMO.
Our midfield of Gardiner, Hayes, Joey, Dal Santo and Jones (best tagger in the game).
Forward line of Roo, Kosi and Milne.
Defence of Goddard, Fisher, Gilbert and Baker.
Perhaps the freo list is more even and doesn't quite have the bottom six St Kilda had but the Dockers best 22 lacks the star power of the Saints in that era.
You'd think Lyon would have improved as a coach with greater experience so he may have the Dockers batting above their average.

Re: Saints list or Freos
agree on all points Old Mate
the lyon dummy spit was interesting
I was watching live and thought ok there is a geelong supporter in the social taking photos
no biggie = Lyon huge over reaction
but then I was thinking how did 7 get the same camera angle from inside the social - was he set up ???
either way at 30 points down Lyon was looking to kick a dog

Lyon looks like a one trick pony. Defence, defence and more defence. The good teams will work around Freo out by playing clean, positive football.
