Do they definitely have a spot on the senior list for him? Maybe they are weighing up who to elevate for Fisher or can't afford it in the cap? Maybe they see Shenton or Staley as better options for structural reasons. The rookie list isn't just a supplementary list you pick from when you feel like it.

Lets wait until round 24 then. Also dont the AFL have a rookie upgrade after round 12 or has that gone?

So if VFL form is no indicator... Why should the players bother with it??

Reality is.... If a bloke can dominate that level (which is very competitive) he can hopefully come in and do a job at senior level.

Haven't we buried the myth that VFL players cannot make the grade at the next level yet?

Some can, some cannot... But there's only one way to find out....

Hibbert's OK

Can we demote ferguson now that he is out for 6+ weeks?

He ain't coming back into the seniors this year now...

Hope we see Curren get a game, he's done everything possible to get a chance.

I think the club must have a reason -they aren't maliciously declaring him incapable. I'm sure the coaching staff have noticed him too. There must be a reason we just don't know. They would want to try him out I would think. Not sure on the round 12 upgrade but they must still have a cap on how many you can elevate or the list would get out of hand.

If the club wont even give this kid one single game but is playing the Big Kos based on his 2009 form there are some rocks in some heads.

We all know why Kosi is playing. And that's fine, we have that luxury atm.

Who knows could be the next Nathan Bourke. But then no-one will ever know if he's not given a chance. After his VFL form he deserves a go even if its the sub. (sighs petition).

Cos Maister and Hickey are injured or because we are tanking?

surely we aren't the only ones who notice him smashing it in VFL week in/ week out...

would get a run at melbourne i'd say
No he wouldn't. He's been okay at Sandringham but let's not get carried away, he needs to come in and be consistently good to be retained on our list. The fact that all the first year mids have had a game in front of him and that Ferguson was promoted in front of him pretty much tells you what the club is thinking.

yeah but why is the club thinking like that?

Seb Ross is having a flat patch and looks tired
Saunders and Murdoch are playing at a standard expected of jnr players
Jones and Ray have the odd good game
Saad had about 5 poor games b4 he had a rest
Newnes is ok

Why not worth ago other than the rookie list reason... in that case why not Ledger

Having been to most of the Zebs games this year both he and Ledger are in the gun because their disposal isn't up to scratch.
I don't think that anyone on this forum would, for the reasons you cite or simply as a justified reward for effort, oppose him getting a senior game but that's not the whole story. The real decision we are making each week is whether we are going to play kids we are going to keep or pick the side on form in the two's. Not everyone, unfortunately can be given the same level of opportunity and some know already that it has passed them by.
FWIW, in addition, I think Curren's brief minutes of indecision in the NAB Cup haven't helped.

No he couldn't.. Nathan Bourke was Nathan Bourke at 18, from his first game to his last... He wasn't just a nuggety, solid in-and-under type... He was a legitimate champion and was destined for it from his first season.. You could see it right away, much like Harv's...

Andrew Thompson is a more likely comparison, but with such an emphasis on disposal in today's game, not sure Thompson, and Curren as it stands, would've lasted as long..

Get him in the guts, should of already been in the guts with Lenny injured.

Big enough body, wouldn't be easily rag-dolled.
We cannot continue to build lists littered with poor foot skills. It cost us 2 premierships. How bad is he by foot?

Harvey & Burke also had competent foot skills.

You can't have a team full of players with good skills but soft as butter like Dal Santo. Got to have a good mixture of both.
