You're comparing a squad of 25 to a final 22.

What happens to the numbers if Newnes, Saunders and Ross miss out?

Bout 80 games, so still miles younger and still the youngest we've ever fielded that I can find!

Good post Thunder.

Also need to use the Mean as all the 11 guys who have played 100 games plus is pushing the average up.

Exactly, imagine if you took Lenny (260 odd) and Dal Santo (251) out of the mix! Would drop a crazy amount!

Can you explain the difference between mean and average?

It gets worse. Take Joey, Dal and Lenny out of that squad and the remaining 22 players have a total of 1112 games (avg of 50.5 each).

Between them Dal, Joey Lenny, Roo & Kosi have a total of 1172 games...

This is what people have been missing about us this year - the average game stats have been hiding the fact that we are chronically inexperienced. The actual teams we have been fielding this year have been missing critical experienced players (Lenny, Chips, etc) and the inclusion of Dal, Joey, Roo, Milney (and Chips & Kosi for a few games) has been falsely skewing the averages. A handful of veterans and ecperienced players bumps the averages up and masks the fact to the casual observer that we aren't just blooding a few kids, a third to one half of our team is first and second year players.

I think we have had games where we had four or five players on single digits in terms of games played - even GWS and the Suns don't have that!!

No difference of course. I meant median.

That's being mean. :)

We have seven players between 50-150 games..and exactly none of them are genuine guns..therein lies as much our problem as a pile of kids..

Exactly. That's the reason we haven't won more game or played better in losses - the experienced players not playing to their potential. Of course the amount of inexperienced players has an effect on team performance, but a lot of teams play with a bunch of youngsters.

It's the 50-150 games players that have let us down.

Actually the mean is a type of average. The median is also a type of average. So are the mode, the geometric mean and the harmonic mean.

But on average people think the mean just means the arithmetic mean. If you know what I mean.

i would say those guys are Armo, Steven, MacEvoy and Roberton.

All of those are showing signs and Roberton and Steven would be close to guns if not already. Armo is close and Big Mac isn't consistent yet but he is a ruckman so will take time.

That figure is so inflated by a handful of senior players.

What you have

Wright
Stanley
Lee
Saunders
Murdoch
Newnes
Hickey
Milera
Saad

30 games or less.
