We should have taken the cash and ran to the Gold Coast when it was on offer! We'd probably be in the top 4 for the next decade if we did!
Oh and hasn't it being a roaring success for Brisbane/Fitzroy after the novelty wore off. Long term Brisbane and the Gold Coast WILL NOT survive without being continually propped up by the AFL.

This is a personal issue that could easily happen to any one of us.

They stuffed up but I dont know if we should ridicule him too much on a personal financial matter.
If only Foiney paid Watters or any one else he has slagged off on unfairly the same respect

I'm not ridiculing him, Joffa. I find the basis of the defence somewhat interesting, given the circumstances outlined in the report. I also found the remarks made by the officers of the court interesting.

You and the missus talk much?

Not having a go ToT, just passing a comment.

I didn't read anything in your post that was ridiculing him.

As for talking with my missus, financials is one of the things we are both ALWAYS up front on and talk about, mainly because ever since we have been a partnership it has always been OUR money, whomever is making it (which on occasions has been my good wife with amounts vastly more than me, and vice versa)

So yes it did seem a strange defence (emphasis on defence) angle by their lawyer.

cheers
Nowhere near miffed, Joff. I find it endlessly amusing to read about the defences launched in such matters. I'm an avid reader of Michael West at Fairfax. He presents many a fine tale about the insolvency/liquidation/receivership roads traveled through law in Oz.

I tend to gravitate to how it is often suggested to laymen that answering a simple question may help them interpret the law; "does it pass the reasonableness test?".

I sometimes struggle to answer in the affirmative.

However, your answer to my question does get an affirmative response to the very same question. But, hey, you're not in court so it's probably not relevant.

Perversely though, I think there is some chance Mrs Fine may have represented some genuine reservations in some of her answers. Either that, or......

wow how surprising, more evidence to suggest mark fine is a hypocrite.

first he called for watters to be sacked on the basis of poor communication, then we find out he cant even talk to his missus about the liquidation of his business

then he labelled the st kilda football club a basket case with management problems, all coming from a bloke who cant even operate a cheap ass home business

the bloke is a flog, happy to sink the boot into others but when it comes to what he does, he's suddenly exempt

Just to clarify - there were no "defences launched". They both pleaded guilty.

Secondly, if you put any store in what that clown Michael West has to say you are seriously misguided, IMHO.

That might be so but the defence would still have presented evidence which would have been taken into account by the magistrate when making a decision on penalties.

I wish I had listened to Michael West 6 years ago when I had a crap load invested in Asciano. I did have the pleasure of telling that fuckstick thief Mark Rosthorn to get f***** to his face.

I'm not sure how you could assert that when the overwhleming majority of pleas in the Magistrates' Court involve no defence evidence being "presented" whatsoever - the plea in mitigation is usually a series of assertions by the defendant's legal representative that never have and never will constitute evidence. The only reasonably common form of actual evidence that is admitted on a plea in the Magistrates' Court is a written character reference.

Ok. I stand corrected.

I think ToT was being facetious or that's how I read it anyway.

Lance or James??

I don't care if he is proved 100% correct. The way he announced his "inside info" and 72hr countdown was carelessly sensationalist and served only his own interests.

would have been nice if the Port melbourne supporting Fine could have gotten his questions correct-

But Brendan did manage to get correct information across- Sounds like alignment nearly sealed.
