Billings is elite on both feet and appears to be the clever, medium sized, goal-kicking half forward we need - who also has the potential to play midfield.
I would say a small/medium sized half-forward is probably the lowest of our priorities right now. Currently we have: Milera, Schneider and Minchington all in that role, with Saunders, Murdoch and Curren all spending considerable time there too. Not to mention Dunnell, Markworth and Siposs who fill that role (albeit in a slightly different way).

Granted, we need top-end talent no matter what shape, size, position but clearly our biggest need is a midfielder, particularly one that can win it in close.

With that in mind I'd most prefer to take Kelly, but I doubt he'll be available come pick 3.

We're spoilt for choice.
Just going on what I've read and the little I've seen -
Kelly sounds good too - good left foot kick and huge endurance - although I note that one of his weaknesses/areas he needs to improve in is inside work (and I'm sure he will).
I'm sure Billings can eventually play midfield full time, and he does spend time there - he's been averaging 25 possessions, which to my way of thinking equates to 35 possessions if he spent all his time in the midfield?
He's good aerobically but can get better, and you'd expect him to.

Struth!

Channel 7 will have to get George Donikian into the commentary box.
Can't see anyone else ever pronouncing that.

Would have loved to hear Jack Dwyer's attempt :D

Yeah Billings sounds like a really good prospect.

But thinking back...how many guys from the draft that have that "medium forward but will become a midfielder" tag have actually done so when they reach the AFL?

The only one that immediately springs to mind is Stevie J. Cyril? Not really. Didak? Hardly. Yarran? Nope.
