Ross Lyon Effect
freo have had a shocker of a draft. ross lyon obviously handing down his needs and forcing his teams hand. slowly sucking the life out of their trading.
too many shades of what we went through at freo right now
2017 is going to be very tough for them

Re: Ross Lyon Effect
i found their selections odd. it was like they were stuck somewhere between addressing the needs with a ready made player and picking talent for the future. so they ended up picking their talent on a needs basis.skeptic wrote:can you elaborate?
problem i had with it is they ended up picking players well before where they should have been selected
theres no way apeness is a round 1 selection. selecting apeness they passed on:
dunstan
acres
gardiner
crouch
hartung
lewis taylor
dumont
pierce i think would have been better placed selecting cameron giles. one of the best KPD in the draft or alternatively gone down the path of selecting a ready made KPD/KPF. other available options barrass (WA), ben brown, mitch harvey
then when they get to their last pick, somehow marsh has slid. homegrown WA boy who smashed the 20m sprints in the combine that needs a bit of work. they pass on him. could have had langdon as well

Re: Ross Lyon Effect
He's one of the great AFL opportunists. Might get another crack at a flag for the Dockers next year and 2015. Will be interesting if they end up delaying to renew his contract and he gets another offer he can't refuse with another club. Maybe the Suns will have their premiership window opening up by then.
Will history keep repeating itself for Ross Lyon?

Exactly. You never know how a team has gone with their draft selections until at least the conclusion of the upcoming season really.plugger66 wrote:I find the fact that a person fond the selections odd, odd.

Re: Ross Lyon Effect
It does look like he is laying the lyon time bomb.
Leave a s*** list so the team declines after he has left.
Makes him look more like a genius coach and lifts his personal stocks... Maybe he is that cunning.

Re: Ross Lyon Effect
The Freo fan forum would be saying they are very good picks for the pick numbers they had. I cant believe people already know how good people will be in the draft and secondly that RL was even involved in who they picked. Lets not get to arrogant by the way. Its not as if we have picked well in the last 10 years bar hopefully the last 3. Even to early to say they have worked out.

I'm wagering you don't know s*** about Freo's picks, and just get a buzz out of shooting people down.

What Ross Lyon does is of no interest to me. I am far too concerned with the Saint Kilda footy club!

^ good call
that said, hope he farks freo's list by being a plugger (not a tosser, but a gap filler: 1. to plug a hole)

plug
verb. block or fill in (a hole or crevice)
likely plug
1. Approaching 40, Sally, decided she best real in any old blow joe to plug her hole.
unlikely plug
2. Ross Lyon, with no eye on the future, recruited Dean Polo to plug a midfield hole.
