I have just been on the StKFC website and have listened to all of AR's "soundbites" - his interviews and his telephone welcomes to the new draftees, etc. You really can't fake the genuine excitement and "niceness" of this bloke. If I were a StK player (I wish !!!!) I would run through walls for him.
Whether by accident or design, I think that we have a really solid base for the future.

Probably true, but "niceness" isn't always a good quality in a boss. If you want to get high performance from a team, sometimes you have to be a bastard. Let's hope he's got that in himself as well.

May be you're right, but I thought Watters sounded great in his first year. so who knows.

I have been a manager for many years and I don't think I have ever needed to be a bastard.
You do need to be tough and make difficult decisions at times but "you can catch more flies with honey than you can vinegar."
Rather than tough or nice he's straight down the line. If players need to do something he will just tell them. Seems all too simple, but I think the players will appreciate his style. Old fashioned hard but fair.

No, was very dubious about Tim Watson when first appointed. Also wasn't too sure about Stan Alves either. Not sure how I feel this time around because he is yet to prove himself.
Talk is cheap. Fingers are crossed for him, however.
Curb your enthusiasm - you’re a St.Kilda supporter!!

A man for all seasons. A leader for our club.
A man for all seasons should be changed to a man for many seasons.
I might be wrong (and I'll know in 2.5 seconds on this forum) but Watters, Richardson and Hinkley
were our final 3 in our last beauty contest.
He'll be OK. Richo will be with us for a while (with the admins blessing)
I once spent a year in Adelaide, I think it was on a Sunday.

If he has no kids at least he has plenty of time to concentrate on the job
WTF has that got to do with his coaching ability... FFS...
what an odd response...
despite the rather tongue in cheek tone of the post which u missed/ignored, he clearly states it has to do with the amount of time he has to concentrate on his position

I was actually serious. I've got 3 kids. None of them as littlies have been good sleepers and sleep deprivation long term effects your ability in the work place.......and posting on SS.
Well that's my excuse when I need it lol!
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
He was coach of EB in the EFL when I was playing... And he was highly rated.... And was the premiership coach in every year I was ther except one.... His team was a machine.... As were Vermont one year
His standing at PA was enormous ...... But SW was highly rated at Coll.... Only time will tell at afl level
You're not just a footy coach at that level.... You manage in multiple areas, on multiple levels with intense pressure
