But he was just highlighted again on Ch 7 for playing a great game...

Who? This thread is about Dunstan.

If you are talking about Watts, I couldn't care less what ch 7 said. Thought he was was playing bruise free football. My look fancy against a midfield full of kids. He probably thought it was the TAC again where he can breeze around picking up cheap kicks.

A no.1 dp and very very dissapointing
Couldn't agree more about both Watts and Dunstan.
Watts had lots of 'cheap' possessions, like so many of his Demon midfield compadres (unlike Nathan Jones).
IMHO If he tried that same 'cheating' (running in front of the play in the hopes that his teammates would get the footy and pass it to him unattended) against a 'seasoned' midfield (like ours with Jack, Lenny and Joey) he would get 'burned' and probably get a 'rocket' from his coach.

Dunstan was just a revelation. Who would have thought a kid playing in his first AFL game in a severely undermanned midfield against a 'seasoned' midfield containing Jones, Cross, Vince, Watts et al would show the poise that Luke did? It's very early days but we appear to hae snagged a very good player.
It was interesting on the Demonland Forum to see their 'hindsight heroes' complaining about Melbourne's 'wasted draft picks' in not selecting him!!!!

I loved it when Dunstan broke a Nathan Jones tackle, think it was in the final quarter. When Jones got him, I thought.... 'oh bummer', because Nathan Jones usually sticks his tackles. It was a good tackle around Dunstan's hips, Dunstan seemed to falter a little, then broke the tackle.................. he looked so strong through his core and has quite massive thighs for one so young.

Keep our fingers crossed for Luke that he develops into a good regular contributor for the Saints. So far - yesterday's game and in the NAB cup matches - he is giving us a glimpse of something to get a little thrilled over.

Super debut, his poise and ability to work his way through a pack were fantastic.

He is a strong young man, but he looks like a real footballer of someone wow is just reliant on his size.

Best debut by a Saint since Dean Greig.

Can't visualise our (Don) Dustan in pink shorts tho........... don't think he has the legs for them, too masculine! I'd see our Don, more in board shorts.

Was the draft pick that got this kid part of the McEvoy trade? If so, it might be a win/win

Great question, and it's not as simple as I thought we gave up Ben, pick 24 (Hartung) & 54 (Ceglar - rookie promotion) And got pick 18, 19 & Savage. Plus there was a whole lot of trading around that

You can probably take pick 54 (or was it 59?) out of the analysis. Both St Kilda and Hawthorn were finished with live picks in the draft and were just doing rookie upgrades so it meant nothing to either team.

Hope we don't Mozz him with too much early expectation.

remember round 1 1989 John Georgiades 8 goals on debut for Footscray......
career lasted exactly 15 games and his next highlight?? was accidently kicking Trevor Barker in the face!

He does look 26 :-)

I don't think expectations will be a problem.
Too much comp. Fans are already pre-occupied with Stanley Siposs Spencer and Billings.
