Go you mighty SAINTAAAAAAHHHHZS!

Post: # 1444590Post I Love Peter Kiel »

Condemned before the season by 75% of journos to win the wooden spoon.

Riewoldt supposedly eking out his career with a bottom side while Goddard and Dal have gone to potential flag-winning sides.

Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond, North, Essendon, West Coast, Sydney supposedly heading towards 'inevitable' flags.

Saints to be in the doldrums for years to come, hoping for draft picks as consolation.

Such was the 'accepted wisdom' of Rohan 'Essendon' Connolly, Jake 'Hawthorn' Niall, Greg B*m, Caroline 'Bl**dy' Wilson (who tipped Collingwood for the flag!) .

WHAT A LOAD OF CR*P!!!!!!!

Stick with the Saints, boys (and girls)...what yuou are seeing with 'Kelvin' Templeton, 'Don' Dunstan, 'Reg' Hickey etc is young birds of prey just learning to fly.

Plus of course the 'old' guys. Riewoldt, aging like a fine red wine. He is a superstar!
Joey and Haysey steadying the ship.

So proud of the boys today. Was at the game.

'......He that hath no stomach for this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us. '

Who cares about Luke Ball, Dal, Goddard..."
They've had their reward.
We don't need them!

Geez you don't get carried away much.

We have beaten last years bottom two sides,
and then only just,
and then on our own dung hill.

Please hold your talk about not winning the wooden spoon until at least round 7. If we have won one or two more games by then, then you can carry on but not until at least then imho.

I hope I'm wrong and would love to win all our games but you've gotta be real about it. Currently we're not very good.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Jaacks Black...you didnt see the ferocity our players had attacking the footy today?

After a preseason of muck rakers and doomsayers drooling at the prospect of our demise we hit the first two rounds like men possessed.

This is epic to watch. I dont know what has happened over the preseason but we seem to have a mix of players that play like their lives depend onit.

Enjoy it while it lasts? The young guys will get tired soon??....that may well be. There is a freshness and desire in the saints that has been missing for a long time. It is cause to be passionate about.

Love your passion ILPK. Some tongue in cheek but I love the final quote. Very apt I might say
Reckon Roo has the stomach for the fight. Nick Riewoldt... building a feared culture !

Let's put this into perspective: we beat last years bottom two sides - just. But they will probably be better this year so two wins is not going to be enough to avoid the wooden spoon. I find it tough to see what matches we might win now - outside chances against Adelaide in Rd 4 and Brisbane in Rd 5 (most winnable game for the rest of the year I reckon).

I have found our first two performances very promising but lets not get carried away.

Yep, enjoy the wins while we can. Good competitive efforts against the tops teams is about as much as we can hope for.

Next week will be our first real test. Enthusiasm and effort may get us close.

jacksback, sverik25 et al....hope you're enjoying that half-empty glass of shandy!

Who cares if we finish last?
I was referring to journos, Bigfooty boofheads and bullies who implied the Saints would certainly lose in round one and probably two as well. Personally i don't think we'll win the 'spoon'.

It's just great to see the way the boys are playing. Plus of course I'm loving the new guys...the 'Book of' Eli, 'Don' Dunstan and even 'The Method in Billings' last week.

We've had to endure sickening, fawning coverage of Roos (the Messiah) coming to the Dees....and we've heard how Buddy + Tippett will make the Swans 'unbeatable' in 2014.

I loved all the Saints who retired last year, but they are long gone.

Who know what'll happen this week? we're talking about young men playing with an oval ball.
Bring it on!
