Is there any chance H. Goddard could slip to our second pick

If he does then we should get Patrick McCartin at pick 1 and Hugh Goddard with our second pick.
Thoughts?

Prefer Petracca / Goddard combo.

I'd take Lever before Goddard if we got another pick to be used on a KPP.

I think we will have to make our first pick before our second pick.

Second cousins, apparently. The media does love making a connection, however tenuous.

I've heard Hugh is on the slow side but there would be others on here that would know more than me.

What are our chances of getting a priority pick? If we end up loosing 16 or so in a row we must be a chance ?

Petracca and Big Mac thanks...

He was a potential number one pick a year ago now he's likely to go about 8 to 20 depending on how he's viewed. Doubt he will make it to us.

The bombers have a pick at the end of round one.......Hugh did part of a preseason with them.....if he is still there around pick 20, then the cheats will draft him.....

Pretty sure Wright trained with them too, it doesn't mean a great deal imo

Well you can remain sceptical but the Saints are blessed that the planets have lined up and we can grab McCartin at exactly the right time (to replace Rooey). For once the footy Gods have smiled (taken pity) on us. "Paddy" will be a super star!!!!!!! All we need to do now is grab 1 more Tall Forward (maybe Goddard) and we have repeated the 2000 draft when we got Rooey and Kosi and set us up for 10 years of "success".

Goddard is a third round pick at best. He lacks pace, which is why he struggled in the recent under 18's.

So who would you pick at this stage based on what you have seen.

Based on what I have seen over the games this year and lays I would go with McCartin. Reckon he was underdone this year but he has some special traits.

McCartin has diabetes

Make a huge play for Jeremy Cameron or Boyd. If not just grab more fast skilled midfielders. This year there are no great KPPs. Just wait get em next year. 2015

What has the diabetes got to do with anything.

Well not real sure. Id pick Heeney atm. But I dont think anyone will decide until the draft combine testing.
For me its Heeney v Petracca and then wait and see how they test.

But Id also be looking to possibly trade pick 1 .

Agree - Nick Dodge and Ryan Burton look decent in the next draft...

Heeney for me is the one to get

He had a pretty ordinary Under 18 championship. McCartin seems to me to be a better fit. He has a touch of the old time footballer about him. Can take a mark and likes to push opponents out of the way. Also like Petracca who had a monster championship. Was the Division One B & F. We also need a tall KPP defender and i quite like Durstin from SA. I guess Peter Wright from Vic Metro will come into calculation but I see him as a natural ruckman rather than someone who could hold down FF or CHF. I guess the only positive we can take from season 2014 is that finishing last means we get the first two draft picks. Our only hope is the future because right now we are the worst team in the competition by a considerable margin. Pretty tough being a Saints supporter but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Also looking forward to discarding the deadwood. Happily say goodbye to Maister, TDL, Milera, Stanley ( yes Stanley). Given every chance but has not got what it takes. Such a waste of natural talent.

I just wish we had a forward line like Sydney with Buddy and Tippett. Roo is a champion but he gets pathetic service and has to beat three or four players every week just to get the ball. Maybe the coach ought to consider moving him to the midfield to give him a chance at having an impact. We have nothing to lose. These days that's all we seem to be good at.
