Reece McKenzie

Post: # 1500479Post damienc »

Read something today that suggests we are interested in this kid.

A lot of people have big wraps for him. He is a 196 cm ruckman/forward who is a man mountain despite being still a kid. Loves taking grabs especially if they are contested. Is a bit hit and miss in front of goal but kicked 10.4 in a TAC match this year. His stats were phenomenal. 19 disposals and 13 marks ( 8 of them contested). Rumoured that we are after him at pick 21. Any thoughts, knowledge etc???

Basketball background. Very much in the Stanley and Spencer project player category. If he does make it at AFL level I would expect a long apprenticeship and no impact for 4+ years. I realise there's quite a bit of hype about the kid but I would only pick him with a late pick.

Could be the powerhouse monster full forward to complement the athletic Stanley/White/Lee. I'd be very happy with him at 21 assuming we take Petracca with 1.

Would prefer midfielders from out first few picks.

Weve already got our fair share of tall forward 'project players' .. and ruck project players. If we do pick a tall, he needs to be a proven commodity at TAC level - not someone who showed a bit in the odd game here or there.

Turning circle of the titanic and second efforts to match...

Not my words, just some written opinions to temper the hype...

I'd actually like to get him, seems to be a late developer that has a high ceiling.. Not sure about pick 21 though.

His father was a premiership player for Carlton.
