Can't honestly say haven't seen much of Christensen. It's apples and oranges though, half decent small mid/half forward flankers are a dime a dozen. Monster 6ft god knows what who can win a GF sprint and clunk a mark not so much.

The kid is only 23, not to mention the Christensen deal reeks of non-football related drama that Geelong were all too happy to get rid of.

Dunno about clearly. Anyways. It is what it is. sounds like its done. So our next job is to just get 21 right and make it count! As long as we get a good player. Its all that matters now.

Smells like a "Brad Ottens" Scenario.

So we could have

picks 4, 7, 21, 22 and 41

for pick 1 and Rhys Stanley.....now that would be something

If the recruiting guys back themselves in at picking a 200 gamer at pick 21 we have to go with it. Rhys is and will be a great AFL player but if White, Hickey, Longer come on plus the acquisition of Cameron in 2016...We don't need Rhys......for me the plan to acquire a gun forward or another tall from another club in the coming years has to be another influence on this trade decision.

If Caleb Daniel gets to 22 that wouldnt be a bad trade.....big difference in height though between Rhys and Daniel thouh :)

Geelong didn't want to do that trade but had to. They always look after there own the cats.
Well my mail is that they were not looking after their own so much as cleaning up a very sordid mess that would have derailed them next year if he had of stayed.

According to bigfooty AC 'slept with Lonergan's missus'. Take that with several grains of salt... But maybe your mail is different? PM?

2 completely different players.. Wayne Carey would've struggled to have a major impact forward this year.. Especially the amount of ball getting Directed through Roo.

I get frustrated by his inconsistency but he has improved and as the team consolidates I believe he would benefit, however, he does need to impact games as a bigger bloke and this part ofhis game needs improvement. I would keep him another year. Not sure what we would get for pick 21 that wuld be developed sufficiently to guarantee game time unless Peter Welsh is picked that late.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Though one of our forwards kicked 49 goals, was AA and vice captain.

There was a reason the ball was directed to Roo and not our other forwards.

Running power. Getting to position, presentation, once, twice, three times.

Stanley has none of those qualities.

Honestly.

Rhys is actually slow on the footy field. Sure, in a straight line he can get up a head of steam, but it is not a straight line game, and he struggles to turn and pivot with the agility needed IMO...

Your comparing him to one of the greatest CHF the Game has seen.

You Can't deny that when the TEAM played well Rhys was exceptional.

Brad Ottens was a previous pick 2 and had shown a very high level of ability, just needed to get out of the Tigers who couldnt develop him enough.

We have developed a speculative pick into a first rounder in return, and he has arguably reached his ceiling.

Comparing Stanley to Ottens is like comparing Fiora to Fyfe.

Rhys isn't & will never be a great AFL player... his ceiling is a good solid role player. It's that simple.

Caleb Daniel will be available at pick 22 no doubt.... & pick 32...& pick 42...& pick 92. He's a rookie pick at best.

21 is about par for Rhys IMO. I hear that Freo is sniffing around him now so hopefully we can get their 1st pick instead.

I will deny it. Stanley played well in one half against a tanking Freo.

He has not delivered, has currency and if we get 21 for him, good.

Hope he goes well at Geelong, nothing against him.

It is a risk, but a calculated one and I am sure it is weighed up

Carey kicked 46 goals and took 157 marks in 1992 when North finished 12th out of 15.
Age 21.

We ought to get a good player for pick 21. I'm not convinced Stanley will make it, but I've been wrong before.

If we end up with pick 4 as part of the pick 1 deal , we could very well be in the frame to pick up 2 meter Peter Wright - perhaps an almost ready made ruck/forward replacement for Rhys.

His stats say he improved a lot and was way up in contested marks etc. Top 10 in the AFL from memory.

You do realise that if we get a Peter Wright or a big guy it will probably take around 4 years and 50 games before he shows as much as Stanley is now. Occasionally there is a Cameron type but they are the freaks.

I'd be disappointed if we traded our 2 metre Ruck/Forward and then used our first pick in the Draft on a 2 metre Ruck/Forward Image

So that scenario would make it

Wright, Pick 7, Pick 21

V

Petracca, Stanley

Why will we pick up a tall?

We may go for three mids - Petracca, and two sliders @ 21 and 22

We picked up a forward in Membrew

We have Hickey, Longer, Pierce, and Holmes to develop as talls.

We have Roo for at least two more years and then we may pick up an experienced forward in FA.
