Such a brave girl.
Never hid her battle, in fact invited people in to raise awareness.
I'm so glad she got to meet her nephew
RIP

There's not a dry eye in this house.
Vale young Madeleine, I'm sure the world was a better place with you in it.
They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

Maddy wanted us to donate blood.
Too many people are frightened of needles and don't have the guts to book in for a donation.
Look what this poor girl went through - if you are eligible to donate and are not sick yourself, please call 13 14 95 or visit donateblood.org.au and do something good in honour of this tragedy.
The blood service continually needs new donors to replace those who stop donating for many and varied reasons.

Tears to the eyes - I have a teenager - and this cuts to the bone!
Condolences to Nick and his parents!

So very, very sad to hear of Maddies passing.
Like many others, I was hoping that she would beat the disease, but unfortunately she couldn't fight it any longer.
Condolences to the Riewoldt family , friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Rest in peace sweet Madeleine!!

Madeleine battled it out to the end. I really liked that interview Nick did with Madeleine - it was very touching. Good to hear Nick is taking some bereavement leave and he can take solace with his family and new bubby.

No matter how young you are
never take life for granted as death
could be just a stone throw away.
It truly is just devastating when
our lives can be affected by such a hideous
disease.
My heart goes out to all the family.
RIP Madeleine

For the past seven months, Maddie had largely spent time in the intensive care unit, and on Christmas Day the Riewoldt family were called in and told to prepare for the worst within days if not hours.
Characteristically, Maddie defied that prognosis.
Family believe it was further evidence of her remarkable fighting spirit and tenacity, but also suspect she was determined to get well enough to meet Nick and wife Catherine’s newborn son, James.
Maddie eventually shook off infections and was able to meet and hold her two-month-old nephew a couple of weeks ago.

RIP.
USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
